The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
""The tax has ended up raising less than initially forecast, with the government’s monthly receipts data suggesting about £6 billion has been collected to date. The OBR’s forecasts indicate another £3.6 billion is expected over the 2024-25 tax year, with takings tapering to £1.9 billion in 2027-2028...." (if they are lucky imo)
If that doesn't tell you its and industry in decline, don't know what will ....

"but can LTH summarise why there has been such a negative reaction to it?.."
FWIW, I believe it is due to our mystery 'suitor' (possibly Askar Alshinbayev or connection with) being knocked back with their approach for the whole company. I also believe that our 'suitor' is responsible for the never ending selling pressure including our mystery ~100k seller, that being, one or possibly both of our 6% holders.
On the plus side, one would think if the company was such a screaming buy to make an approach with our SP range bound circa 14-19p for several years, that this seller may turn to become a buyer again on a successful onshore drill and look at taking another go at us prior to offshore campaign.
On thing for sure, CHAR's SP is not reflective of our current business at all imo

"Vodafone has rejected an offer by billionaire telecoms tycoon Xavier Niel to merge their Italian operations in a €10.5bn"
Today we have :
"...There is also a possibility that other parties, such as Iliad, the French telecoms group that operates in Italy as a low-cost mobile provider, could make a counter-offer or challenge the deal"
This 'deal' will have a few more twists 'n' turns before long imo.

SP now sat at BELOW RNS announcement day, unbelievable, but that's the UK stock market for you.
In the US, home grown companies taking over and overseas player would have the backing of US investors, here, totally opposite. Worst thing is almost every UK listed company is played with like this.

" Will he (Carlos) make a bid for the whole company (HBR) at some point ?..."
If he were to, it would need to be soon to allow for legalities to complete well before the Wintershall deal is completed. Carlos would of course need to be 100% sure the Wintershall deal WILL still complete under his ownership too, post t/o. The more voting / blocking right he acquires the harder it will be for anyone else thinking the same.
Good chance it may occur imo, watch this space.

Never22,
Didn't think we had been issued with a closed box (effective) date as of yet, would that not be in the circular (prospectus) yet to be issued.
But yes, in principle, should the deal occur ( I see no reason it would not) once the circular has been issue and date for AGM on the vote confirmed.

See we had YET ANOTHER reversed trade today.
22-Feb-24 10:36:58 7.59 -300,000 Unknown* 7.57 7.65 -22.77k O
22-Feb-24 10:36:58 7.59 300,000 Sell* 7.58 7.65 22.77k O
Order loaded up with 300k sell to pull the bid down, then why oh why is it then immediately reversed back again.
The weird thing is, I have noticed these types of large trades (sell then reversal) are occurring time and time again but go through as an 'O' trade. The unusual aspect is the reversal happens within a same time stamp, not something you can achieve if you are a legitimate 'O' trade.
Totally illegal loading of the books and our house broker should bring this illegal trading to the attention of Chariot.
