Sorry for being the class bore, but worth repeating again the Co. strategy from the Align research note of 13 August:-
"Following the appointment of CEO Lyn Rees in summer 2018, later that year Yourgene set out its strategy to create a significant molecular genetics business and deliver material increases in shareholder value over the subsequent 3-5 years. "
Notwithstanding today's damp Covid numbers felt by many, the Co. objectives remain focused on the core elements. Growth in geographic and product penetration obviously takes time, hence the projected timetable of shareholder value expected from late 2021 onwards.
One to buy on the dips and tuck away for the (very) LTHs perhaps.

The core business it is then. Can’t help but conclude that expectations re Covid have been poorly managed by the Co.
Six months ago the Co. was happy to announce a link with Ncyt, was talking to the nhs, etc, but then investors began to speculate re numbers in the absence of any meaningful Covid news, It even feels LR was pushed at the end of July into providing a quarterly Covid update, which I assume is the one sparsely provided here today.
May be time for LR to look closely at the cost-base of this Co, starting with the disproportionate size of the BOD, not far from the size of the government Cabinet.
I do believe some of the gloss has come off LR today, but hope springs eternal.

The million monthly of revenue aimed for on 20,000 tests per month equates to £50 a test. How much is actual profit is clearly unknown, but projected volume would seriously have to be ramped up to majorly impact the coffers.

So that’s why Mr market declined to re-rate Ygen into multi-bagging territory. Back to core business expansion it is then.

Over the weekend and prior to the long-anticipated trading update, thought it high-time to revamp the office PR.
So, would nominate Bhavika as the new face of Ygen, producing a weekly blue-sky webinar of the latest update of life at the coal-face/ hub.
Followed by Morricone background music accompanying the measured entry of Lyn, Clint-like, chewing cigar,wall-mounted map of the world showing Ygen’s footprint.
Long pause, silence...and then the numbers spat out in that unmistakeable drawl from the Welsh valleys.
Camera shot of Steve Little in the background, working away furiously on the science bits. Latest courier van arrival being feverishly unloaded.
Camera pans out and fades to the sound of happy and releaved cheering, PIs awestruck.

One should not be surprised to see all these fingers now being keenly placed in all these juicy pies , both in terms of product range (would put Greggs to shame) and geographical spread.
It begins to corroborate LR’s carefully defined strategy as outlined in late 2018 (detailed in the Align note), whereby true shareholder value would be achieved in years 3-5, that is late 2021 onwards.
Of course the covid effect should be YGen’s very own Brucie Bonus, and other factors such as a potential Nasdaq listing might well bring the timetable forward.
That’s even without considering this as a juicy bite-sized morcel for one of the pharma giants to swallow in the medium term once traction is evidenced.

JAdam, perhaps an element of ambiguity with the announcement- I am sure the webinar made reference to CQC already granted but this RNS seems to refer to YGEN’s second premises being afforded that permission.
Is the second premises the original NIPT HQ?
If so, this is an aged, unassuming premises which I have previously visited, and I expect is not one would now like to associate with a Co. in expansionist/ world domination mode.
May have misread the RNS, and stand to be corrected if anyone is able to clarify.

A damp squib of an announcement really, seems Ygen has swung the other way now by providing an RNS for each and every occasion.
All eyes are firmly fixed eagerly upon the quarterly re COVID testing, so why not just bring it on? Expectations need to be managed with some long overdue numbers.

I seem to recall mention that we are doing around 10k tests a month; if correct not likely to break the bank just yet.
The lack of any definitive figures presently will explain why Mr market is a bit shy to re-rate the SP for now. Hopefully meat on the bone around the next bend.

Notaflipper, no offence intended - post was aimed tongue-in-cheek, as I count myself amongst the LTH’s. I must say the Co. approach towards SP appreciation going hand-in-hand with an expansionist Co. strategy appears grossly out of sync presently.
This is where I would expect the (old-fashioned) value investor at II level to identify the value discrepancy and step in with decent stake-building. Likely we remain under the radar for now.
6 years already? How time flies when one is trying to eek out a decent return here.

It is clear by now LR is focused on the bigger picture for this Co. - 500m mkt cap, future possible Nasdaq listing, expansion into oncology, alzheimer testing, etc etc., so us PIs can only be a constant buzzing in the ear trying to hitch a late ride on the COVID dream.
Quarterly testing update as he stated on 3 august would be precisely that. Have never met the fellow but I do get the impression he likes to set out the plan, adhere to it in order to achieve it, and will not tolerate the tail trying to wag the dog.
That said, any chance of the quarterly asap?

LR undertook in rns of 3 august for the co. to provide a quarterly COVID update. If one takes the start date as results provided on 28 July, then it can be expected by 28 Oct. Or not, as the case may be

“We understand that the COVID-19 testing market is dynamic and with this in mind, we will commit to updating shareholders on a quarterly basis on the commercial take-up of this product."
Assuming the start date for that undertaking was the final results on 28 July, the deadline for the first update is nearly upon us.
It seems increasingly clear that LR is focused almost entirely upon the core business and developing and expanding in that regard. Nothing wrong with that in normal times, but the steady selling again would perhaps suggest that Mr market’s patience is being seriously tested. There is no excuse this time not to see some proper numbers in the testing bear-pit.

Small beer in the grand scheme of things, but an excellent pitch to present worldwide: tested and now proven package. How can England NHS now fail to take on the test, and other nations as awareness improves?
The snowball really now beginning to roll.

Referring back to the Align Research note of 13/8, LR set out the Co. strategy, including when investors (rather than speculators) can expect decent returns:-

Product and geographic penetration doesn't happen overnight we know.
So late summer 2021 if the plan goes to er....plan.
What we hope for, of course,is that the entry into the Covid testing market will significantly boost revenues and deliver the "material returns" much,much sooner.
All will be revealed shortly one expects.

Whilst sitting in my ****pit braced for take-off, thought it apposite to review some words of the father of value investing, one Benjamin Graham.
Summarising, he argues that just as the market has a habit of overvaluing stocks which have been showing excellent growth or are glam. for some other reason [read some Covid stocks or for those with longer memories, millennium dot-com bubbles] , it is "logical to expect that it will undervalue -relatively, at least- companies that are out of favour because of unsatisfactory developments of a temporary nature."
The idea is simpe in theory: invest in companies where the true worth of the assets is not reflected in the share price.
Were the ole chap around today, would Ygen be such a stock to spirit away in the portfolio?
I like to think yes.
