Some time ago I said I'd seen an article which showed a chart highlighting the EQE of PbS was higher than InAs, but couldn't remember where I'd seen it. Anyway found it once more- it was in a paper submitted by STMicro. I've posted a picture of the chart/graph at the link.

It's consistent with the accurate hand and finger gesture mapping talked about on the Vision Pro, although in that case I'd expect the sensor would be feeding into Apple's bespoke R1 chip.

With the eye mapping and specifically Iris recognition, I imagine there is a need to be eye safe, and 940nm is considered to be eyesafe only up to certain power levels and periods of exposure.

Frequency needs to be above 1400nm for infrared not to penetrate through the iris. Currently, only two technologies that I'm aware of that can enable vision in that frequency band- InGaAs and QD-CMOS. The former is much too expensive for a consumer device, even if it does cost $3500 so that narrows it down.

I don't think it's entirely about perfecting software, it's whether developers want to bother writing apps in the first place. Many will want to see the market potential for such a device before they commit, and also what people want as apps for the device- bit of a chicken and egg situation.

The VR/XR/AR industry is still in a ZX81 stage of evolution, and there will be casualties on the path to a standard.

Still looking for some evidence of a SWIR sensor, haven't found anything beyond the industry show demo's we've already seen.

Not a chance.

I think if they get anything meaningful from display, it's more likely to come via microled displays on smartwatches etc.

Much risk there though, as there are many competing technologies in this space, e.g. Porotech which don't use QD's and it remains to be seen which one will succeed in volume production. Revisiting the situation with Plessey which looked hopeful, but subsequently went in a different direction.

I suppose it depends on how long you've been holding this share for, and how many times expectations have been raised and subsequently dashed.

At least we can say the company isn't going bust, or being bought out for buttons, but I think it's going to be a very long road back to when this company is valued in nine figures again, and that's assuming everything goes as planned.

Regardless of context, it's likely to be two or three years before we see any serious revenue.

Any positive movement in the share price will rely either on unexpected business or the halo effect of supplying Apple (assuming that turns out to be the case).

Currently zero visibility of either.

No further information was given at the AGM and there were no questions submitted.

"Medium Term - Two to 10 Years possibly?"

That is the general timespan for medium-term investment. Sounds about right to me. Already been guided that SWIR sensors are due to expand from around 2026-27, not just by Nanoco but by independent analysts like Yole.

Not sure, perhaps they will give more details in the call. If not, I think they'd have included it if it was good news.

There always remains the potential for unexpected events, but within the information provided it looks like this will be a steady grower at best, although further information about where and with whom the tech is being used could provide some significant lift if it turns out to be significant.

There is no mention of the display OEM in the RNS, which I thought was significant bearing in mind earlier updates.

I’m not expecting to see any significant orders beyond low volume until second generation InAs materials are ready to go. My guess is that Vision Pro will gradually scale up to a million or so orders per year, and perhaps that along with some of the development contracts will get the company to a position of break even.

I just don’t see the likes of Apple using lead based devices- no matter how small -into devices that will sell in the tens or hundreds of millions. They may be prepared to do so in a cutting edge device where nothing else will suffice and which will sell a few million over two or three years.

Unless there’s some significant acceleration in R&D, I don’t see the company making significant revenue until after 2026 at the earliest.

The Nanoco ADVFN board is completely unreadable thanks to a few posters banging on about unrelated shares and flexing their egos.

Apple do not release prototypes to consumers. It's simply the best device current technology allows.

The 'Pro' badge is not short for protoype. Apple have been using it for years to denote the highest spec/premium model on various products from mac's to iphones.

So undoubtedly Apple have a lower spec lower priced model in development, that's been well reported although details are light. However where I disagree is that this device will be coming out within the next 12 months or less.

All this may be irrelevant if the device doesn't contain Nanoco's technology. I'm very confident it will and have stated my reasons why, but I could still be wrong.
