Probably won't need to buy them out. If they fail to attract business, then they'll go the way of other QD companies like QD Vision, QMC and Nanosys. They were all really good at media presentations too.

Yet QS Ltd. do not appear to have any customers at present. If they did, they'd be talking about it, they just seem to be hawking for trade at present.

Second is their funding- they seem to be a cash burner relying solely on venture capital.

Of course Nanoco were in a similar position until the last few months, and still need to net more business before they can reach break even, but they look in a much stronger position than QS Ltd.

I see media reports that (perhaps unsubstantiated) supply lists are showing SeeYa and BOE as OLED on SIlicone suppliers for the Vision Pro and not Sony as first reported. That could make quite a difference to production scale if the Chinese OEM's have heavily invested in large scale production facilities.

The main area that sounded interesting was the single coating/deposition technique, as opposed to multi-layered spin coating. I don't know how that compares with the techniques developed by Nanoco and STMicro, or whether it's just a load of waffle.

I take QS Ltd. seriously, as they're made up largely of former Nanoco and University of Manchester people. However I think most of their articles tell us nothing new that hasn't been covered by Nanoco in past years.

How many customers do QS Ltd. have?

Where does their revenue come from?

Can they produce their materials at scale without infringing Nanoco's IP (especially lead free)?

What for?

This is a no nonsense industry, PR won't make a scrap of difference to whether a company buys your product or not.

I'll add that in the US there are disclosure rules, that if a customer equals 10% or more of company revenue, the name of that customer must be disclosed, as loss of that customer can seriously impact revenue. I don't know if that applies here in the UK. If it does Nanoco may have to disclose now that they are supplying commercially. Whether that applies to a customers customer is another matter.

So I checked this, and I believe you're referring to the answer given for question 16 in the presentation. They said if the company doesn't reveal who it's supplying to and Nanoco have to check a device to see if it's using their IP, then under those circumstances they can inform the market. However if say Apple are using the tech, and Nanoco are informed they are using it, do they then have to tell the market?

I’ll have to listen to the presentation again to understand the context of such a statement.

Up until now information has been minimal.

Unless the chips inside the Vision Pro will have all labelling removed, and/or the specs are kept top secret, then data sheets will give the game away as to whether QD’s are in use or not.

I don’t think the company will disclose that to the market, unless given permission to do so by Apple or STMicro.

I’m not expecting Nanoco to purchase/obtain a Vision Pro. I expect an independent third party to obtain one, strip it down to analyse the components and publish the results online. This occurs for most products, and for a device like this, I’d consider it a certainty.

If it turns out to be the case these sensors are in the Vision Pro, regardless of volume it's terrific kudos to be in such a cutting edge device with such a prestigious tech company, and I think it will certainly focus a lot more attention on Nanoco.

The contract RNS moved the share price up about 15-20% from yearly lows. Clearly it's going to take more to move it with any significance.

The secrecy surrounding the contract is a frustration which I hope will be eased somewhat when devices eventually hit the market.

It was pointed out more than once that the inflection point is commercial production- a first for the company, at least in any reasonable volume. They have said it's low volume e.g. millions rather than tens of millions of devices, and will not bring the company to break even yet, but is expected to scale from there.
