Perhaps Nanoco will give shareholders an option of taking a cash dividend or their stake is ringfenced into a pot of cash which is then used to buyback stock over a period of weeks or months at market rates. That way those who want to take the cash can, those that want to stay in for longer term get larger cut of cake by reducing the shares in the issue.

I meant December 2022. There was a ton of speculation after the date was announced for trial, plenty of predictions of dead cert multi-bagger-on here and ADVFN. Followed up by and recriminations after details of the subsequent settlement amount.

Conjecture? Naturally, as no one here has complete information.However I prefer to see at least some reason or evidence for forming an opinion. Until we get some stronger evidence that the Vision Pro will be using Nanoco QD’s, the sales potential for the device is largely unimportant.

You seem to present a hypothesis as fact, and then focus on how these things are going to sell like hot cakes.

I believe the first application is the Vision Pro, and have stated my reasons why, but I’m fully aware that the evidence to support that belief is minimal and I might be completely wrong. Proof is likely to remain elusive until the device is on the market, possibly beyond.

I would curb your enthusiasm until we have some idea the dots are in the Pro unit.

Not that I'm aware of.

This is interesting. I believe that Porotech probably has the leading tech for microled, and will most likely throw shade on QD based microled also under development. We shall see.

I look at this from the perspective of a newer investor. You have to go back to May 2020 RNS when Nanoco last referred to STMicro by name in a company release.

Volume production- sure, but we don't know the exact volume. I recall mention of income levels of perhaps around £1m revenue. I estimate a week or two of production work at the most for the materials if it's for the Vision Pro, and that's assuming several QD sensors in each set. I base that on company estimates for a handset (circa 1000M+ sensors) contract keeping them busy for a year on a single shift.

Perhaps the tech will get some additional customers in due course. Samsung have deferred release of their AR device once they saw the Vision Pro, and more recently Bytedance (TikTok owners) have cancelled the release of their next-gen headset and gone back to the drawing board. So it seems the Vision Pro has definitely thrown the fat in the fire.

Information is just far too vague at the moment- there is very little for investors to hang their hat on with regards to future business.

We do know the company is well funded, and now has some commercial momentum, but we don't know for how much, or where it's likely to be used. The volume is described as low, and expected to increase gradually, neither of which will inspire the market much.

Therefore I think it's going to be a case of further information of the applied use and the product and/or further orders preferably medium or large to put any upward momentum into the share price.

The RNS’s regarding STMicro wee not really specific about first or second generation technologies. I think it’s fair to say that STMicro are definitely working with second gen materials at prototype level, as they have job vacancies detailing working with InAs QD’s.

One of the materials that recently moved up on the smarties chart is with STMicro., that was confirmed in the last Q&A’s.

There are a few areas of potential that could move things forward, recalling how an increase in investment can accelerate the development of second gen materials. Could just be puff however, and conversely second gen materials may arrive later than timetabled. The fact that both European and Asian customers have been doubling down on their engagement does look positive though.

We'll have to wait and see. In the near term I am more intrigued by sensors like Metalenz Polareyes, which I see as a strong candidate as a potential unit to use QD's.

Defintiely in the SWIR range. What's the resolution though? Not sure if you're aware, but some AIrpods incorporate SWIR sensors in them, and they use InGaAs technology, but they're very low resolution, so inexpensive to produce.

Inflection point is there, in that the company has finally shipped a tangible commercial order. Prior to that quantities were of R&D volume at best.

I think any connection to Apple would bring a decent lift in the price, especially for such a hi-tech device. How much of a rise and how long it would hold is debatable.

I recall originally the company hoped for breakeven, or very close to it with the first order, and that doesn't seem to have been achieved yet, but it could be before CY2025, but is probably dependent on other areas of the customers supply chain and/or the take-up of any such device.

Something a little more less speculative are reports of the supply chain now good for 1m units a year.

Reports of the first order have been circa 400k units, perhaps that is just the first batch and a second batch will be ordered sometime in 2024, which would add some credence to Nanoco's RNS statement "Demand is expected to grow gradually".

I suppose the market's vapid response to November's RNS shouldn't come as a surprise, bearing in mind the lack of information about the application or customer. Even if the customer and product were confirmed, and it turns out to be the Vision Pro, it's a niche sector at present in an unproven device. A sensor for a handset would put a very different complexion on things.

Or perhaps STMicro will eventually give the nod to Nanoco that they can tell the markets who and for what they're supplying, at least as far as chip level. Tearing down devices is usually reserved for third parties uninvolved in the supply chain or to identify infringing products, like the current checks on unlicensed QD display products.

In the case of sensing materials, so far there doesn't appear to be any infringement as the materials have been purchased fair and square.

Less hopeful regarding the use of QD sensors in cars until second gen materials are fully developed, as guided by the company.

A tear down will reveal what chips are in the device, unless Apple grind off all the legending- which I think would be a first.

So the boffins inspecting it will know what chip does what. Can this be fully traced back to Nanoco, who knows, but they won’t be able to keep a lid on this for ever, and I can’t see STMicro choosing to supply Apple exclusively if there are markets elsewhere.

I was reading an additional article that was detailing a SWIR sensor for use in cars for instance. That article said that SWIR is tenfold eyesafe compared with NIR spectrum. That sounds like, a pretty good incentive to use SWIR rather than NIR for something that operates for extended periods close to a users eyes.
