Jonathan Steckel was one of the engineers named on Apple patents for QD microled display, but it's by no means certain Apple will adopt that technology.

I have a hunch watch sensors may have something to do with the third material package work order that recently progressed on the 'smarties' chart with STMicro. Could also be completely unrelated.

Rumours of the Apple Watch X are perhaps of more interest in near or medium term. Pundits are suggesting a microled screen, and various sensors for measuring blood pressure and possibly blood glucose (not mentioned in the linked report, but Apple are actively working on this). All three are potential areas for the use of QD's

Any smartphone. Could be next year, but looking more likely to be 2025, looking at company and independent analyst predictions.

Also remember the RNS says a low volume order, so dots for millions rather than tens or hundreds of millions of sensors.

Beyond handsets, I think only cars are likely to bring higher volume in the near to medium term. Smart watches and AR could certainly bring larger volume in time, but at present the volume of sales doesn't come close to handsets.

Based on the following

STMicro are consumer focused. They have close ties to Apple being a major supplier of IR sensors over many years.

Nanoco have said large volume orders like handsets are more likely to use gen 2 materials.

Automotive also seems to be out as company has said lead sulphide not resistant enough to higher temperature.

AR/VR is one of the market sectors outlined by Nanoco for QD IR sensors.

Vision Pro has very accurate sensor technology and a 12ms cycle for all sensors.

It also has a need for keeping power levels to a minimum, iris scanning and eye tracking, all of which lend themselves to a multiple improvement in sensitivity, resolution, and power use.

At least three changes in Nanoco's timetable from 2022 through to 2023 closely align with delays in Apple releasing or demoing the device.

I'm guided by the RNS. Also the Apple VR/XR is going to take time. The hardware is developed, but the software is still embryonic, so I believe Apple will want to see some killer apps appear before a wider roll out of a lower priced device.

All this could be moot, as we don't know if the Vision Pro is using Nanoco/STM tech, even though it looks strongly in favour of doing so.

There are a lot of false trails being laid either by the media or possibly by Apple themselves.

We simply don't know exact figures, but can be reasonably sure that Vision Pro production figures are limited, else they wouldn't be going for a staggered release.

Nanoco themselves have guided a gradual growth of sensors materials, which could potentially change if adoption is greater.

Speculating beyond that is just wishful thinking.

I've said before I don't believe that there'll be widespread adoption until the lead-free gen 2 materials are fully developed, and that's at least two years away presently. I will be very happy to be proven wrong if it turns out lead sulphide based gen 1 materials gain wider market traction.

Well quite. However STMicro have not made a secret that they’re working with this technology have they, and it hardly makes sense to limit their market to one company.

Perhaps there’s been some co-development work between STMicro and Apple on the QD sensors. After all Jonathan Steckel was working with Apple before STM.

I think the datasheets that STMicro should publish once these devices are out there should confirm what's in them. If not the QE will be an indicator.

I've not been aware of any secret chips made by STMicro to date once they're out of R&D phase and in production.

Doesn't matter. When that device appears on the market, there'll be a teardown on Youtube and across the web before you can say Jack Robinson.

I also find it hard to imagine STMicro making such devices exclusive to Apple. They may have agreed not to publish specs and datasheets until the device is released to the public.

Communication regarding the settlement amount aside (which has been well discussed), in which way do you believe the CEO has not delivered on forward looking statements over the past 12 months or so?

We expected an order for sensor materials in the low volume category by end of CY23, which has been delivered. We expect to receive the second payment tranche in the New Year, which has been diligently hedged in investors favour.

Further potential contracts await in display, and enhanced engagement with the Asian and European customers in sensor materials.

Some upward momentum in the share price would be nice, perhaps understatement, hopefully we'll see that if and when the end customer is revealed for the sensor materials.

Haven't seen any writing off of anyone. Some have suggested they might be bought out, I suggested they may run out of cash before establishing any commercial contracts. That's assuming they can do so without infringing Nanoco's IP.

Lots of QD companies floating around beyond QS- Nanjing, Shoei, Dotz nano, UbiQD, Quantum Solutions, Hansol(Samsung).

Only one of those is licensed to produce CAD-free, and most are reliant on capital investment to keep afloat.
