Well the only other serious competitor to Nanoco in the QD display field is nanosys, and they have some heavyweights on their side- Samsung, 3m (probably less so now), Hitachi etc. I dare say they lobbied hard to extend exemption, or buy them some breathing space to develop cad free themselves

The bottom line is beyond Samsung very few companies have bothered with QD's in display up until now. A few have dipped their toes in the water with a model or two, but hardly committed to the tech in the way Samsung have.

So for the EU, the exemption was probably a lower priority than other technologies.

But you can only assess risk based on information available. Frequently information is concealed from smaller investors, which makes it more difficult to pitfalls. All investment is a gamble to some extent, just some are more risky than others.

Sure no CEO can predict a companies progress 100%, and with a company operating in the realms of nano materials, it's going to be a lot more difficult. Hence why i say this company is more speculative than others.

Well there’s speculative, then there’s speculative. Companies give forward looking statements, and meet them. Nanoco hasn’t met its forwards looking statements, which is why the share price tanked. Maybe that will change from now on, but it is far from in the bag.

Always seem to get many coming out of the woodwork when the share price starts to gain a bit of traction.

Anyone claiming to predict how this share will rise or fall is taking you for a ride IMO, it remains a company in transition, so it's speculative.

Plenty of more mature companies out there to invest in if you want something more steady, but they don't have the potential to make huge gains.

Sad that he never got to see his company make it to commercial success. 64 isn't much of an age to check out.

Not sure why some seem to think Apple releases are related to Nanoco at this stage. <br /><br />The facility isn't finished yet, and there is still several months of stress testing, so I wouldn't expect any product until around this time next year at he earliest. That's assuming the Apple rumours are confirmed.

With regards to the thickness issue- this only applies to film based backlight correction on LCD devices. There are alternative methods of integrating QD's in display depending on the type of display, which you should be aware of as the information is in the public domain.

Therein lies the problem with how many expect the sun to start shining on a probable tie up with a large name. Assuming Apple are the company, we’re still likely to be the best part of 18 months away before serious revenue can be expected from that contract, and that also assumes the product meets expectations both for the partner and the market it serves. In the meantime I look for what is happening in display.

It’s wise to temper expectations with a little caution with regards to Nanoco. After all there was much excitement when the partnership with Dow was first signed up, and it didn’t bring the expected results. Then the partnership with Merck and Wah Hong caused a brief resurgnce, once again for expectations to fall short.

We hope this time things pan out differently, but this remains a speculative share in my vie, at least until we see som significantroducts appearing or at least pencilled for release.

I'm assuming it's that which has pushed up the shares a bit today. Either that or some other news brewing.

if they come through with this one, then the share price will soon charge like a bull. So depending on your point of view, you can either view this as a disappointment, and sell before a fall, or an opportunity to pick up some more stock at what may be seen as a bargain a few months from now

That's it. Apple new product releases tend to be in September, and 2019 should be a year for all new designs as 2018 was an interim year with the 'S' models. Speculation of course.
