By "they", I assume you mean Samsung. Samsung have a great deal to lose from a competitor in display. I'm not sure that anyone else does.

i buy fine wine from my wine merchant because i can trust that his recommendations are good value. where they are expensive they still justify their cost.

the minute he starts selling me **** wines at a high price or even mediocre wines at a price well above their value, i will cease to trust him.

nanoco bod have zero credibility. they raised capital at 37p - well above the value that they knew the company was worth (in light of the fact that they had already decided to settle for peanuts).

they led existing an new investors (not me thankfully) to buy into the hyped settlement at way above the value that they knew the company was worth.

A good point. It is clear why BT did not want to publicise it. He knew it would tank the share price.

It's not clear whether the motive behind that was to bless LOAM with a big pay day on 6 Jan.

Hey Intrusive, didn't you point out recently that Samsung had acquired some of Nanoco's 2D nanomaterial patents?

Can anyone see a benefit to Nanoco in light of this?

I think the more likely game being played here is that Nanoco need to work out the cost vs benefit of taking a small infringer (small volume relative to Samsung) to court for a pittance of a pay-out, when they know that the infringer knows that they are weighing up that cost vs benefit.

Do you take someone to court accepting that you will make a small loss from the case in order to deter others from doing the same, when you know that you probably have a tiny market share in display in future years (due to Samsung having 90% of it), and you are stiffing the very competition that you need to survive.

Nano, I find that hard to believe I'm afraid. Our collateral is secure. It would be hard to think of a more secure form of collateral. We could get the finance very cheaply relative to interest current interest rates.

If the Board knew of an infringer, I can't think how it would benefit them to wait until the cash is in hand.

Ddubya, you are correct. Statistically, the longer it takes, the lower the probability.
