Just having a share buy back does not mean it will advance the share price. It depends on the type of company and its direction . It can help the directors pay/bonus schemes if they are based in earnings per share !.
A company growing and expanding could benefit from buy backs, but this Bank is in reality stagnant.
The best Idea our Mr Charlie Nunn , can come up with is to copy Legal & General and go into the property rental market.
Predictions of this companies share price by analysts in the recent past have even mentioned a price in the 80s, so if the price does rise, some will say it was helped by the share buy back, something that can never be proven.

The spanking Lloyds is getting as you put it, does say much about this bank that we have money in !.
As you also say the bank is UK focused so should be doing better than other internationally focused banks .
If and when I break even, share price wise I will be off, this bank will not achieve much in the near future, in my view, in fact I may just call this miss- managed company a lost cause and move on. BoD will of course boost their bonuses .
