a mixed up country3 May 2022 12:55
Well, I am no longer invested in Lloyds, so have not posted since selling up, but have visited this site from time to time to see how the conversations are going.
I am always slightly amazed, on this board who broadcast their support for the down trodden and air their anti-Tory wrath on this board, a forum for those whom wish to make money, via the capitalist system !.
I also have never been able to understand the fighters of the class war, who are addicted to the honours system, the present leader of the Labour party is an fine example. Just by accepting an honour they are setting themselves above their so called poor down trodden people they say, they fight tooth and nail for.
Practically every Labour/Liberal MP if given the chance would accept a knighthood or peerage and of course when it comes to fiddling the hardworking tax payers via their expenses they are as crooked as any Tory.
Why even Engels, the double standards man whom championed the poor workers, whilst also managing his fathers mill, in the Weaste area of Salford !. In his biography he is described as not turning up for work before 10am (the workers started at 6 am) and was gone from the office usually around 2pm again the workers would finish around 6pm including the children ! Also Engels would meet his chum Karl Marx, for a pint of beer in what is now called the Crescent pub, along the road known as the Crescent, in Salford, which is still standing. Karl was another all mouth socialist, born into a wealthy family, married into a wealthier family and lived off hand outs all his life, his mother inlaw (a Baroness )paid for their servant/maid! and their rent. He was even connected to he family that owned what is now the Philips industries company in Holland. Socialism is a funny thing.
On the down trodden minorities (whom all came here feely by the way) they are not the benign group some wish to paint them, they come here freely and complain , complain about our culture our history and that the free housing is not up to what they expected!. Yet another person of interest is the saviour of the slaves, Wilberforce, inherited a fortune in his youth, had a timber import business , importing timber from the Baltic regions, employed child labour, never cared for his workers living conditions and bought is seat in Parliament . But for some reason worried about black slaves, whilst keeping his own white English workers in poverty in Hull.
My own family history is Welsh /English my maternal grandmothers father is shown living in cellars (known as cellar unders ) in the 1841 census, one step away from destitution . My grandparents started work like most children at the age of 12yrs my parents started work at 14 years of age.
I like many on this board have managed to do fairly well, which must be down to our White Privilege one can only assume.
