I was told the other week, that a night out in Manchester will cost easy £200.
A couple of months ago the wife and I went out to manchester for the day, in one of our old haunts it was £15.00 for a pint of beer and a glass of wine. We were in Cheltenham a couple of weeks later, called into the Wetherspoons in the centre of the town, the same drinks were less than £6.00 if I remember correctly.

As I was going to say some aquifers cannot be replenished because their water lies beneath impermeable layers of rock etc, once gone ita gone. Turkey and Iran are damming the waters that feed the rivers Euphrates and Tigris, causing the rivers to run below their natural levels, why because the populations of Turkey and Iran have increased dramatically.
The same on the horn of Africa, Ethiopia is damming the river that feeds the Nile, which is worrying the Egyptians.

To replenish groundwater can take between 10 and 100 years even here in the UK. In some parts of the world, it is between 100 and 1000 years to replenish the water. Sone aquifiers cannot be replenished because the water their lies beneath impermable layetrs

The dogs and I could live in the woodland, for a while now and then, but my wife likes her comfort, my wife's idea of camping/getting back to nature is a lodge with all mod-cons.

Acquire some land with a lake, stock it with carp and let the fisherman do the rest, you could even put lodges around it.

You just had to mention Nadhim Zahawi, that man that this country showed compassion to when he came here as a boy, from Iraq. The man who bought his home via a finance company in Gibraltar!, as so many of us do!
Fiddled his parliamentary expenses, claimed money to heat his stables no less, went back to Iraq after becoming an MP and came back home with a deal to work for Gulf Keystone Oil, for £1000 per hour the companies founder got embroiled in a fraud/tax case in the USA and did a deal where he paid $20 million to stay out of jail.
Zahawi made £1.3 million via the oil company and just happened to forget to declare it to the Parliamentary standards office.
This man who wanted compassion for himself shows more compassion for his wife's horses than the British taxpayer.
And he was a good friend of Jeffery Archer the convicted fraudster and perjurious MP. In fact, Archer opened political doors for him, so a little refugee boy, the son of a wealthy Kurdish businessman arrives in England and just by chance comes into contact with a criminal MP and makes his name.
Now I am off to watch the test match and will hopefully will have a nice day.

Why does no one complain about the corrupt council tax system, the wealthy generally pay a lot less per square foot for
a property than the less well-off. Someone could think that the establishment knew what they were doing when they set the bands up. Let us add a few more letters to the bands up to Z.

The first part of my post was not against the welfare state, but how governments themselves use it for their own agendas. Governments have encouraged the breakdown of the family unit, allowing young girls to get pregnant and jump the housing queues was the start. A cousin of mine got pregnant by a married man, she told the DHS that she did not know his name, she got a house he paid no maintenance, he kept his mistress and his wife, the taxpayer covered the cost and that situation is not a one-off I m sorry to say.
Those who need help should get it.
Welfare is like legal aid, the wealthy get it the genuine poor do not.
