As you say the bonus is based on the performance of the business, well as I mentioned in finance there are so many things outside of the business that affects the bottom line. Is it ethical to pay employees more because some external force lifts the earnings per share? As I would also say would it be ethical to deduct a certain percentage of pay if external forces reduced the profit line?
Would the BoD take kindly to having their pay reduced for every point that the profit margin dropped? after all, they are merely employees. As shareholders, if the bottom line drops so can our dividends, our returns go up and down, they do not stay flat or only go up.

Bonus payments are a contentious issue, some see them as normal addition to their salary without the need to earn it. How do you measure a bonus payment in a financial business? the company's wealth creation is controlled by so many outside events. A BoD could just sit there, and outside influences could create a profit for which the BoD will of course take the praise, as so many do. When the profit drops it is of course down to outside influences!

I well remember pre-vote and even into the early morning watching the live broadcast on TV those remainers who at that time thought they were going to cruise to victory, Messers, Ashdown, Abbot, Milliband etc were all saying that they would respect the vote. You can only count the ones that voted, I know the EU does not like that and generally tells those that voted against the EU's wishes to vote again until they get it right.

It was not for the remoaners in power trying to make disasters happen, from day one with two-faced fancy shoes May as PM. People should remember if the establishment had actually got Brexit done, instead of trying to impede things, how much easier, it would have been.
