Perhaps windfall taxes should be applied to other industries apart from banks and Energy companies.

Of the three parties you mention in the war games, the Indians are the most treacherous of the three, the other two we know are openly against the West. India takes Western aid but buys Russian military equipment, which you could say is with our aid money. India is at serious odds with China, India wants Japan, Australia, and the USA, and of course ourselves to be its defensive partners against China. Russia is loath to move too many troops from the Russo/Sino border due to long border disputes, as I am sure most are aware of. So three nations with dubious intent doing the "good the bad and the ugly " standoff. And the other card in the pack, ****stan (the word that cannot be printed) is cosying up to China, an interesting scenario.

No, I do not withhold money just to be awkward, I have come across companies and individuals whom are just dishonest.
I have had people trying to charge for waste skips that did not exist, VAT but no vat number on the invoice, and materials and quantities that do not match that used/shown on the invoice.
It is widespread.

For anyone interested, if you get an invoice for something supplied either goods or labour.
If you are not happy with the goods/labour look at the invoice, if it is not 100% correctly made out do not pay it.
I have taken the smile of several contractors who have done work for me over the years, simply by pointing out the law on invoices. And refusing to pay their bill, until the invoice was correctly made out.
An invoice should have the correct name of the company serving the invoice, its correct company status, ie limited or public, its full address, its company number, and its VAT number if applicable.
Your name should be correct private or business, your address should be correct, and the goods/labour provided should be correct.
There is a law on invoices, which can be found on the Gov, website.

Too many businesses are allowed to get away with cash in hand, so simply all businesses should be forced by law to give receipts and by law, everyone should have a duty to ask for a receipt. Work out how many times per week you buy something from a business and do not get a receipt, why even a taxi is a business but a receipt only if you ask for one.
Window cleaners are a business but what homeowner ever gets a receipt? And then we have the money laundering enterprise on every street, the fast food outlets. Why those selling the Big Issue are self-employed, so why no receipt?

Just had a quick look at the link you provided, so the losses to the power companies should be basically written off by banks/shareholders over 30 years.
Banks are not worth the risk anymore, just a cash cow for the failure of others, as investors in this bank have found out.

Only a few days ago the ex- MP Rory Stewart explained how foreign aid was a waste of money and miss- used.
The Irony is that he once had his hand in passing the money out to the despots and corrupt, now he is working for a charity and he advocates the money would be put to better use if it was managed by, you guessed it a charity!

It appears we are on the hook for an unknown sum and another open cheque book and of course, there is the cost of the military hardware to add. And I do like the bit where it says that Russia has taken the largest number of refugees perhaps they will be receivers of our aid money, nothing would surprise me with the shower in charge and the Civil Servants. And most do not know or forget that all the aid money is borrowed money for future generations to pay off, perhaps someone should point this out to the Generation Millenniums, they could then stop venting their anger on me and my generation.

The statistics you quote do not seem very explanative so 14% of the population which is 9.5million were born outside the UK. That is no small number. Your statistics then mention that 49% of immigrants contribute at least one founding member to business start-ups. So approximately 4.75 million foreign-born immigrants are in business, wow?
I do remember you saying that those born here are not immigrants but British, so your numbers must by definition mean actual immigrants.

Your link concerning foreign aid being diverted to Ukrainians interestingly comes from The Independent newspaper. Which s owned by the wealthy son of an ex-KGB agent/oligarch, raised to the HoL by Boris, against the advice of the security services one must wonder why. The other majority shareholder is a billionaire Saudi Arabian national.
Is the Independent newspaper really as impartial as it claims?
