Hi Cordolini, Well, we can both be a bit impetuous by nature having only visited three. However, a lot can be discounted simply by scanning the net. Many of the country houses appear to have been last furnished, rendered, plumbed and wired in 1963. The younger members of the family leave, the older ones stay until they pass on and the houses are then left in a pitiful, unloved state. That also includes some absolutely superb colonial-style houses just left to crumble. No-one wants them. They are huge and grandiose and were designed to contain several generations at the same time. Such a shame.

Anyway, Lady Mush has already knocked down three walls in Scallywag Cottage, replaced kitchen units, extended the living area, turned the loft into a bedroom. put in a chicken run, built a baker's oven ,fenced in the front garden and rescued two street dogs,. haha...women!!! I've told her to forget the big electronic gate.

(Meanwhile, I am looking at a large car solar panel car porch and a five a side football pitch).

Strudel - The village where we are buying our place is called 'Aguas Belas' (beautiful waters) which I think is about as cool as it can get. :) It is some distance from the Spanish border being slap bang in the centre of Portugal. Apparently, there is someone in the village who makes sufficient wine to supply the local community. The ducks are lining up!

We had a zoom meeting with our friends back in the UK earlier. One of them was having kittens when I said there was sufficient value in my isa to buy the place but I would not be selling any shares until the very last minute. Haha. I think they believe I am a daredevil! Hardly, not with GGP.

You bet Jerry. Olive, cork, apple, pear, plum, fig and some mother of all sweet fruit, the name of which I cannot recall are all around the land. Sigh.

Hi Jerry, Sorry..would have answered earlier but fell asleep following a four course meal, including carafe of wine for £7 . (Did someone mention diet?). The area is near a town called Tomar in Central Portugal. Lovely spot. I estimate that the price we will be paying for 'Scallywag Cottage' is probably 10% of a UK version, not that you could get one with the four acres of land and hardly any traffic. The road by the house is virtually unused and the olive trees brushed the side of the motorhome as we drove along it.

Our faces lit up like little cherubs when we saw the place and like one of Jet's fireworks when our offer was accepted. My mind has been spinning like the wheels of my bike, whizzing around an imaginary circuit on the estate, or is it the wine?

Anyway, come on GGP! Hurrah!

Hi guys. I have noticed over the many moons I have been invested here that the spats between the posters seem to increase not when the share is tanking but when it is poised for a surge. Quite odd really! However, we all know there is nothing to be gained from it. Nobody is going to say "Gosh, I'm glad you have drawn my attention to the fact that I'm a complete idiot. I will be changing my ways just as soon as I can!"

So, it's better, I think, to take a deep breath or do what I do maybe; filter, get curious as to what the kerfuffle is about after seeing loads of green boxes, log out, look up GGP on the search, see who has caused the mayhem, congratulate yourself on your wise decision to filter, log back in again and read on. Cool huh!

I only frequent the dingy back streets of towns Tig, where the restaurants do the cheap 'menu of the day' and all because.....we haven't reached 72p yet. :) So no advice available at present.....

Morning Speedy. Yep, the figures are astronomic. Of course, it would make GGP a prime take-over target in due course but not until the 'salesman' had proved up a few more prospects perhaps.

Indulge me here: If you have ever been a commission only salesman, which I have, you would be as pleased as punch that your 'sale' had landed you a commission of 30% of all ongoing business, (possibly declining to 25% following a juicy lump sum payment). This would be particularly well received if the commission was to be made over 10 to 30 years.

If you then have a whole bunch of other prospects and your company was prepared to offer the same commission rate on successful sales, well, I wouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

Easy to see how this analogy can be used for the NCM/GGP relationship.
