From the ODX trading update RNS today;

“The Company signed a material transfer agreement ("MTA") with Mologic in June of this year providing access to raw materials and know-how to manufacture their lateral flow antigen test. This test determines the concentration of COVID-19 (SARS-CoV-2) antigens in a saliva or swab extract sample to identify an individual with an infection. Mologic is currently evaluating a prototype in a number of healthcare settings and the results to date look promising. If this continues, then by the end of November, Omega would look to commence technical transfer of the test prior to commencing manufacturing.“

Looks to me like they are some way behind us given tech transfer not expected to started until end of Nov.

Forgive me, but isn’t frequency of use key to rapid antigen tests? After all, you could test negative today but be positive tomorrow. How many people are going to be able to pay £120 frequently?

Given what seems to be the slow pace of Condor here, I thought I’d have a look to see what the US equivalent (RADx) is up to. The latest I could find is at https://www.nih.gov/news-events/news-releases/nih-radx-initiative-advances-six-new-covid-19-testing-technologies, which is a couple of weeks old (so apologies if already posted). The link details six companies with tech that the Radx scheme is supporting, but to be honest none strike me as a game changer.

Is this the latest from Radx does anyone know? If so, they seem to be going at similar speed to Condor

@lochtranzalad - agree, to an extent. Timelines have “slipped” and TBH nobody can see why BAMS has spent more time in CONDOR validation (yep, that program for rapid evaluation of diagnostics) than it did in development! But the delays on the LFT are something I’m comfortable with - mess it up now and the damage later down the line could be terrible, but get it right and the world market, assuming we either get manufacturing maximised or can licence the affimers, is massive.

The FDA is desperate to approve an home use Ag LFT, but so far has had no EUA applications from any company developing one. Likewise, world govts are desperate for the test, which they describe as the holy grail, or game changer, but no govt yet has the test. That’s because it’s not easyto pull off.

We are not missing the boat, because the boat has not left the harbour.

For those interested, the FDA have today published transcripts for their last 2 round table events held 7/10 and 14/10.

Altogether these docs give a great insight into FDA thinking, and as far as AVCT is concerned, demonstrate how eager the FDA are to get a home use saliva based LFT. To date , the FDA have still not received any EUA application for such a test, despite it being a priority for them and despite the fact that the relevant FDA template has been available for ages.

Anyone saying we are late to this particular and important party is, I think, wrong. We may well be the star guest and the first to arrive.

I can certainly understand that getting the tech transfer right on the LFT is critical, and would prefer to wait than get that wrong.

I am, however, struggling to understand why BAMS, which entered CONDOR on 22 July and which is on sale through Adeptrix, still hasn’t been validated. Sir Al has said he is frustrated at the progress here, and even used the “fingerprint” from the Bruker application note to demonstrate how good BAMS is in the his latest presentation. Pigster, to say CONDOR “aren’t the best” seems to me an understatement.

But conversely we do know from the latest govt paper, and tweets by the falcon study, that Mass Spec is high priority, and that our BAMS is one of only two in the frame. Could it be that the delays now aren’t to do with validation (we may be under NDA still) but more to do with finalising procurement talks with the govt?

Pretty new investor here and excited by the potential.

It seems to me that ones reputation is pretty important to those in academia and so Professor Smythe would have been unlikely (and foolish) to stick his initial findings on twitter unless there was really something in them!

Guess we’ll find out soon enough!!
