Bit confused - govt bought £496m from Innova last week without tendering first. If we think this new £912m is likely to go to Innova then why is the govt bothering to tender this time?

I’m not sure I’m quite right in my understanding, because it may be a different application using maldi tof that could derive the benefit, rather than a Covid test per se.

As a non scientist I’ve been trying to make sense of https://www.medrxiv.org/content/10.1101/2020.10.30.20223057v1.full.pdf, which was published on 3/11. I think the paper basically concludes that MALDI TOF MS tests, like BAMS, can identify not only if someone has the virus, but also predict how badly they might be affected by it. This would help clinicians in their treatment and triage decisions (and therefore help protect the NHS).

But I may have completely misunderstood completely, so would appreciate comment from the scientists among you!

From RNS 6 August - “The diagnostics business has also been working at a rapid pace towards ISO13485 accreditation, which will streamline CE marking and other regulatory approval processes.“

From the duties and responsibilities for the lab manager role just posted - “ Work alongside the Head of Quality Systems to develop and continuously improve the ISO 13485 Quality System, standard operating procedures and protocols (SOPs) and maintain training records”

I wonder if that means they now have the ISO accreditation, which will help streamline CE marking and approvals?

It’s worth referencing the ODX RNS of 19/10, in which ODX announced that it had signed a contract with Abingdon Health, the UK Rapid Test Consortium ("UK-RTC") lead, which set out the terms of the supply of goods from UK-RTC members to Abingdon Health. In that RNS it was made clear that only Abingdon, BBI, and ODX would be manufacturing the RTC antibody test; CIGA, the fourth RTC member, was confirmed as providing “assembly services” only.

Presumably they could provide those same assembly services to us, or anyone else.
