Due to the holiday period I'm not trading much myself "silly season" lol.
Been holding steady this week for the divi, which is better than a kick in the nuts . . . though what the divi returned over a decade ago "we can only day dream now"
£ is getting kicked again !
Yanks are holding onto their $10 Barcs nicely, so we need to see how much an effect this all has next week, post div.
Just logged in to say well done, I'm away again friday so won't be trading next week either.

You mocked the fact of a traditional (head an shoulders pattern) dismissed as nonsense, if my memory serves.
So why are you questioning something I have already expressed an opinion on back in July ?

Once again, for all your multi i.d's . . .
I noticed a Head an Shoulders in the daily patterns, starting with the left shoulder forming back in Nov' 17 / M.A of 186.54 & a low of 177.33
then turning into a neck line on 6th Feb 2018, M.A was 200.41 & a low of 187.98
Top of the head line being 19th March with a M.A of 209.58 & a low of 214.38
Which broke into a right shoulder on the 3rd July when the M.A was 194.06 with a low of 184.44.
It appeared the right shoulder capped @196.85 with a M.A of 189.

So if we see some kind of boost from any large investor or pension fund (Due to Barclays beating the Q' results analyst estimates of 1.46billion / reporting £1.9billion - up from 659 million last year) increasing the interim divi slightly and +0.25% on the base rate.
Yes we might just see a trusted and widely used pattern "which traders have used as a guide for many years" trashed and proven wrong.

If we see the share price breach 177.47 then the H&S's pattern will have served accurately once again.
While if for one of many positive reasons the market favours Barclays and we see the price notch up past 196.85 then we all need to watch the resistance and pivot levels.

Judging by the $ / £ exchange rate which correlates our ftse100 . . . managing effects on our industry caused by tariffs, demands by China on the mining production. Pushing on the effects to the oil price and so on.

My humble personal opinion is that, there is a positive and negative play of trade for Barclays atm.
Though Im more than happy to plough large trades at Barclays if we go sub 180 and sit and wait.
Im sure we can see some positive support levels as we move forward.
One thing is for sure, the Barclays B.O.D flew this bank by the seat of its pants these past years.
Anthony Jenkins would have returned the share holders a +£2.80 SP and then watched it crash like D'Bank did.

So I'm very happy to buy and hold, how about you shorting, will we see the last of you preaching "Run to the hills" when this bank finally does get achnowledged again.
One thing is certain, large fund managers will not want to sit on their hands when PPI is finally announced.
They like to get in a really low and ride the wave, months before retail investors start gossiping.
What with these new margins it may get a little stressful for you placing massive short positions.

good point addressed there, though John McFarlane was there Group Executive Director back in the 90's.
He does know hatch business inside out, so I guess (only a personal assumption mind you) is hath he can see some ground there.
Giving him some credit, John does come across as a very sincere person.
They give him the nickname (Mac the knife) whilst when he was turning the ANZ Bank around years back, it would have been funny if the aussies Sussex out his middle name "Thomas"
Because in oz, few years back in the outback, blokes used to refer to certain parts of their anatomy as "John Thomas" lol.
Mac must see some potential there in the long run for Barclays, because I can not see the board objecting to his suggestions, apart from Ed Bramson thats is.

Hi J.D. "refrain from typing Jack" really do not wish to confuse a few others on here, with our resident fool lol.
Yes it seemed a complete over sell with mining shares and Carney talking down the £ again.
With other factors to consider Monday, we have a large 38PT divi on the ftse next week, so the divi hunters will be buying all the dips.
We also had the NFP which also clouded the water Friday.
Correlation with our index and the GBP/USD will be interesting as these tariffs are being factored in.
Carney must have his wages paid in $'s
So I pulled the smallest profit I have taken in ages, as I always believe in, "its only a profit when its banked"
Having only just had the time to sit down and compare historic prices, hopefully I may grab a few more like that for another couple of months.
Mind you, least we have a small divi (in the form of a carrot) slight rate rise too, which counter the negatives lol

The thing we must all keep in mind is not just the I.V side of this business . . . we have been all trading an over cooked Bull market, earnings in most leading companies are feeling the effects of gravity.
Even I thought that we would see it unfold back early this year, though Trump got his tax cuts in place.
Banks, not just Barclays are going to take losses when these do finally trend a Bear market again.
Which we all know is not that far away.

Sorry lmao.
You need to ask yourself why are the big funds not running big shorts against Barclays atm ?
Currently I have stopped doing larger short positions, favouring to buy in lots, so one can average down if caught out.
Works for me, my portfolio has only had profit these past 2 years, which allows me to set stops if something drastic happens, plus allowing the buffers to stop any large slippage.
Personally I'm really chuffed and can not wait for a nice run again.
Large institutions do not just buy a trade, they sell when they feel its capped too.
If you just go long all the time, this is not the share it used to be.
Each to their own though, after all its your money you trade with.
Fully agree, "dog of a share" think I quoted that on here a few a few times lol . . . even told Jes Staley directly at the 2017 A.G.M.
Why endure pain and then watch others grab the easy money, ref; the h'y report we have a slightly more to be positive about, along with further costings against profit. These will be factored in by Oct / Nov then funds will start building back positions for 2019.

Due to the holidays I'm letting my other colleagues get hammered on the dax an dow / ftse lol.
Not traded this week apart from yesterdays buy and now flogged.
Bit of a gamble I know, yesterday was a gut feeling trade anyhow.
Still we are planning in a nice area atm considering all other factors.

Once again in agreement there, it was showing a 'head an shoulders' some weeks back now, if we had this as the right shoulder. It looked like it was going to curve off around 200, whilst with the charts knock out of synch with any results.
It looks like it still good be on the cards. If we see a punch into 200 and profit taking, due to all other negative factors.
We could see this drop back below the neck line.
This is the reason I did not plank more in and leave alone at 183/4 last time.
If for once this does play out, it would be very a very nice chart indeed.
Because it would then bolster a really nice long again.
Which I just need one last decent swing here and if I may be so crass to type.
"retired" officially . . . once again lol.
Something I managed a while back and instead of leaving most cash in a rental I went for the "the quick cash" option and got caught in here lol.

If you see this as a genuine sell, back up your posts instead of just calling 'Heads or Tails"
So many factors in the mix right now, hence I only did a quick day trade on the 2nd but last time we touched 184.
If I had to call, it would be to hold until these H'Y's are reported publicly, other than that it will be guess work.
