It's the shares that you believe will increase the most in value that you want in your ISA, whether this be SXX shares or other shares. This is because you will be paying tax at your marginal rate when you decide to take your pension, whereas you have free access to your ISA. The CGT is a bit of a red herring since both investments grow free of CGT.

The fact that you get tax relief at your marginal rate when you pay into your SIPP is not a factor because you are happy with your number of SXX shares, so would not be buying any extra with the additional money.

The obvious problems with this idea are the dealing costs, the 0.5% stamp duty and the big one: the timing!

Do you sell before you buy, or vice versa? No one can answer that!

Yes, the announcement that Stage 2 funding is 100% debt will be made on Monday 8th October. And if your interested, here is what will happen to the SP. It rises steadily to 45p towards September, but then falls back in September to 40p, due to no news, people getting bored or worried.

However, when Stage 2 funding is announced on 8th October the SP spikes to 59p but rapidly drops to 52p. Not to worry though, it increases steadily from that point and breaks the £1 well before production starts in 2021.

The coin is biased. You know it, even if you fear dilution. If you can remain unemotional, you will be able to play the probabilities and increase your profit expectation.

We almost have the required TorPs, and this is well before the earliest date (September 2018) for Stage 2 being settled.

So my view is that the probability lies somewhere between the probability of you being struck by lightning and that of you being struck by a meteorite.

Expected the price to gradually creep up to low to mid 40s in anticipation before we get to September.

Note that Stage 2 is expected to be settled by the end of this year.

Likely, the price was rising when you bought and so the price you paid was closer to the Bid than the Ask.

The words 'Buy' and 'Sell' do not have the normal English meaning when you see them written on a list of trades. They merely mean whether the price you paid was above or below the mid price.

I wish they would not be used and find it somewhat dishonest that they continue to be used in the way they are.

Unless you have inside information the answer is no, you cannot predict the fluctuations. If you could do this reliably then we would all use the method, and that would nullify its effects.

The quality of the company is of far more importance. You just have to do your research.

Well done for making a profit Dave and hope you still have sufficient left to enjoy the future SP increases. But when I read what you wrote above, I just had to comment because I thought, wow, that's so different to me. Unless I'm going to spend it in the very near future, I view my money in the bank as a total waste and feel a sense of relief once I have bought some shares.

How varied we all our in our approaches to money!

Maybe because it's Monday. People have had time to ponder their investments over the weekend and search for the one that's going to make them the most money. I research at the weekend but keep coming up with the answer SXX! Trouble is it's already about 37% of my portfolio.

With the SP still very low and the good news anticipated over the next few months, SXX really is tough to beat. Don't sell on Friday!

You won't have to wait that long. Production is due to start in Spring 2021. So we will have to get this party organised before then.

Hold for another 6 to 8 weeks and you won't really care what the SP did today. Hold for 3 years and you'll be wondering how to spend all your money.

They will probably have to wait until September for the bigger prize, since we know by SXX's stated schedule that Stage 2 will not be settled until at least September.

However, I can't help myself from wondering if we are actually ahead of schedule and something of mighty significance will be announced before then. Anyway, a steady increase throughout August in anticipation would be nice.
