The UK is a dream at the moment. If you have the cash to buy, it really is a great time to invest. How often do you get a chance at +10% return and to diversify over so many companies and sectors.

Anyone buying today has got some pretty cheap shares.

Buybacks at a bargain price. Will save them a lot from dividend payments. Also a bit of protection from an aggressive takeover. I'm sure this sector will recover soon.

The US like the deal and the cheap shares from the UK sellers

I wish DEC could keep some cash in the bank. A lot easier to convince new investors on board when you are cash rich.

With a cold spell predicted, I would expect DEC to jump well into the £14 zone during the next couple of weeks. Hopefully further short reduction and we could easily hit Trek's £15 target.

A nice gift for those who re-invested their dividend early in the day.

I wonder if the shorts will go back to the office early tomorrow to close off more of their position 😊. If not, they may start next week swimming against the tide 🏊‍♀️

I guess it's time to predict what 2025 holds for the DEC share price. I'm going big and think it will peak at £20.25

16% now. In a normal trading week, I think DEC SP would have jumped up by at least 5%. Could be a smart move to buy a few today.

Gas up almost 10% due to the Russia supply being switched off. All looking very good for DEC. Especially if countries want to lock in future supply at high prices.

US shorts down to 2.9%.

No reason under Labour why the sector cannot support itself if you remove or reduce the subsidies. Cost of builds will go up and supply would reduce, pushing up energy cost to the consumer. The only real threat that I see is a Reform government. They have a clear plan to go back to fossil fuels and nuclear.

Gas price nearly at $4. DEC will be generating a lot of extra cash and locking in good future prices. Hopefully they will go for some SP increasing incentives like debt payments and/or share buybacks.

The last time that gas was this price, DEC SP was double. Nearly £23. If gas price holds, expect a large bounce in the SP.

Just stop buying wells Rusty! Let the business pay off a large portion of the debt. Shut down some wells. Build up some capital for future purchases. If not, stand down and let me run the company!

Assets value increased. Long term demand should be positive and the current buyers are getting a discount.

Gas prices are high. As soon as the US seller is gone, we can expect to quickly go back to £13.

Are the managers allowed to buy at the same time as buybacks?

It doesn't seem to matter if you are supplying fossil or green energy, the markets are brutal at the moment. Especially in the UK. Investments will start to dry up, leading to a supply risk and eventually to higher commodity prices. Just need to hang around long enough to make a gain. Or sell out with the others and try to time a good re-entry.

I would not be surprised to see some takeover activity within the sector.

When gas prices were very high, DEC SP peaked. The higher the gas price the better for SP regardless of actual financial data.
