Posting this piece purely because of the Chartists summary at the end. How on earth someone could infer todays price drop was down to staff receiving a pay increase which was announced circa 4+ days ago… seriously?

I suspect this view is perhaps closer to the truth:

Good Evening TheReducer, no offence taken my friend. Chartists give a two sided view I.e if the stock price is heading north, then the likely key price points, with momentum are x, y and z. Similarly, to the contra, if the stock price is heading south then price points of c, b and a could present themselves? Let’s see if a bounce-back returns tomorrow so the shares at least finish the day 1.50p+. I am not panicking at this stage and will paste another Chartists view in another post. I stress once more, I am not looking to convince or convert you to this line of theory.

Out of curiosity, do you hold stock? If so what was your entry point?

CrunnchyNuts, good point well made. Also as a sweeping statement, some of the Institutions purchase on behalf of the ‘retail investors’ monthly contributions on the first Monday of the month. My former neighbour worked for Legal and General and Wesleyan and shared this nugget with me some years ago.

I think JayK put it more eloquently than I ever could. Bottom line is that I lightly follow the Chartists I.e. I try not too heavily focus on the technical nuance details otherwise it totally clouds my judgement. Excuse the pun, but as I have mentioned many a time, I see the Chartists as a financial weather prediction based on wider financial movements. Helped me in the right direction more often than I can remember. I respect your views and not here to convince you or anyone otherwise.

No guarantees in this crazy market but more often than not the first Monday of the trading month is normally a Blue / Upward price movement for both the FTSE 100 and Barclays Bank.

With less than 4 weeks to the half year results, here’s the running order, with Barclays being second ‘out of the traps’ in this occasion.

Wed 27 July Lloyds
Thu 28 July Barclays
Friday 29 July Nat West & Standard Chartered
Monday 1 August HSBC

JayK, back on the road to recovery thanks. I hope you are well to my friend. I Always look forward to your logical posts. I missed the 140p entry level last time by fractions of a penny, and on the basis the current floor looks around 150p and the ceiling 162p. I thought I would take my chance. I set my limit order at 150.75 to make sure it was actioned and it was filled marginally under.

Current gut feel is to swing trade it up to 1.62p and get circa £4k back, then possibly rinse and repeat. But then again, like the weather I could change my mind tomorrow.
