onedaysoonish, Apologies my statement was not entirely clear either… my disappointment was aimed at the buyback’s effectively being suspended. You make some good points which I concur with. For the record, I am looking to buy ideally at 140p or even below, but are not impatient. I’ll constantly reassess the price and make my punt when it feels right to me.

Barclays on Wednesday posted a profit before tax for the three months ended March of 2.2 billion pounds ($2.75 billion), above an average analyst forecast of 1.3 billion pounds and below the 2.4 billion pounds booked in the same period last year.

Its CET 1 ratio, a key indicator of financial strength, fell by 130 bps to 13.8%, largely due to a 14.7 billion pound rise in risk-weighed assets to 328.8 billion.

Good Morning TheReducer, thanks for taking the time to post, I enjoy reading your contributions.

I can see you are not a fan of TA or Charting and give your logical rationale.Thank-you and Fair enough. Far be it from me to try and convince you and anyone else otherwise. However, what I would say personally, and suspect I may have mentioned this before, is that I compare TA to a financial weather report i.e. that is to say it can give an idea for the future direction of travel based on the share price of today. It has helped me to arrive at decisions leading to me making money and more importantly stopping losses on numerous occasions. Never 100% accurate, agreed, but if you wait say 2-3 months then look back to what was indicated was it generally there or there abouts? To me, more often than not. It is used by a collection of so called professionals in the city, so perhaps there might be something in it? Rather than 100% totally dismiss it, maybe just stay a little open to it? Respectfully, your call. As always, time makes things clearer. Sorry to hear that you are sitting on a significant loss and keep my fingers crossed that you can claw back some ground soon. I keep my fingers crossed that no more skeletons are found in the cupboard… but with this Company’s past record, you just wouldn’t bet against it, would you?

Summary:

“In the hope that everything going on with Barclays is just an optical delusion (it's not), allegedly the share price need only exceed 152p to give hope for surprise recovery, calculating with an initial potential of recovery to a tame-looking 168p. With closure above such a level, things become rather more interesting as we now work out the potential of 210p making a future appearance.”

Historically, the last day of the tax year “normally” shows that stocks on a ‘downward trend’ continue to fall, however small, on the 5th April. That being the case, I have just rolled over my 24 hour Limit Buy Order of 142p dead. Didn’t quite reach it today.

In theory, Wednesday 6th should be an Up / Blue Day… typically Institution and Retail money for the New Tax Year get’s placed.

JayK, many thanks for your TA. The support of 142-146 proved spot on. Today the stock bobbed it’s head above and under water all day… with the Low 142.56p and finishing at 146.30p. Can’t argue with that!

Thank-you greatly for your message and for caring... it's funny the huge, positive effect a simple message can have on the well being of someone elseand should never be underestimated.

I fnally decided to catch up with the posts on this board and have read every single one of them since 11th Jan 22. I actually got somewhat excited to see 20+ posts on this board for the last few days. Long may that continue and thank-you to all posters 'old' and 'new'.

If Sigma1 is out there, i would love to hear from you and your latest TA on Barclays. I appreciate that it is not for everyone, but I believe it is more accurate than not. Calling Sigma1.... or anyine else skilled in this subject-matter, if you could share your TA views on this stock then you will be rewarded... if you believe in karma?

Yes... as Dividendchaser1 suggested, i actually sold all my holdings in Barclays and bailed out on Friday 14th January 22, and managed to get 213.88p. A blinkin' good profit for me. I stress... No skill involved here for me, purely down to my 'black cloud' state of mind at the time, which proved to be lucky rather than any hint of my good judgement.

As the cliche goes..."it's not your time in the market that counts, but your timing in the market." Barclays to me, has well and truly become a trading stock and not the boring, steady-eddie stock it historically was. Hence my normally shared buy and and sell trades of the last couple of years.

I've had a horrible 6-9 months personally and if truth be known, somewhat lost my mojo and appetite for most things in life, including the only stock that i trade, of Barclays. Hence my bail out decision of 14th Jan. I'm not looking for support, sympathy or indeed playing the 'victim' card, but in summary I was 'lucky' enough to receive my hat-trick of pain which included:

1. The Death of my Father in Law and funeral organisation in June 21.
2. Confrmation that my Father has the early stages of Dementia and the 'battle' to get Carers to undertake home visits as of October 21.
3. The Death of my Mum as of 30th December 21.

The circle of life and all that? Anyway, always trying to look for the postives, there are many more worse off than me... so i'll count my blessings. One word of Ukraine comes to mind. What a mess that is! Enough off topic personal stuff...

Having now 'come out of the other side' i'm glad to say that i'm slowly returning to my old self. I'm not sure if and/or when i will return to sharing daily media posts and research but I'm certainly aiming in that direction.

Not sure if you are holding or trading this stock but i am looking to get back in... in a big way... circa 140p if it should fall that way?

Good Evening B-E, in relation to uncertainty, I would expect a further knee jerk reaction downwards to any potential negative announcements by our Government in respect of COVID Circuit Breaker events.. That based on previous performances seen to date. To be fair to the stock today, it clawed it’s way back from the bottom of the price range on a number of occasions. The only potential party pooper being the performance of the Dow Jones this evening and a potential hangover tomorrow? I wonder how any day traders with this stock are getting on? Good Luck All.
