@Reppyrr, I can’t speak about the future, but I can tell you that the demand for Dr Strange today has been phenomenal.

I was in my local town centre this morning at about 9:30am and people were already queuing up to enter the cinema. About 10 people had already congregated outside. On a workday morning.

Majority of people I spoke to today have signalled that they are intent on going too, certainly seems like there is high demand!

The RNS simply says that no solution has been found yet and that administration is still on the cards if a solution cannot be found, something that everyone knew (or ought to have known) by now. Another mention of the ‘little to no value’ in the RNS again, but it states ‘likely’.

Those with averages in the low single digits may still be in with a chance, but the RNS is simply a response to media speculation.

I don’t quite see how a company is going to welcome shareholders in like that if the company is about to fold. My understanding is that MCLS could have easily said they are holding an online AGM with the minimum most shareholders due to COVID to avoid any sort of confrontation, but they seem willing to receive it.

Of course, each to their own, but I’m still holding. I may top up tomorrow if there is a further drop. Yes, chance is not on our side, but I don’t see today’s RNS as a complete crusher.

For those who have been here for the long term and have averages in the double digits, it is sad to hear of the misfortune. Sometimes these things do happen. But as Mick has said, there is a potentially good case for shareholders here. Morrisons have been absolutely grotesque, CD&R being completely disgraceful in my opinion. Shareholders funded their expansion and now they are waiting until the thing is dead so they can scoop up the remains. I hope that if this thing does fold, they will find that it was a mistake to let MCLS fold and that they will find themselves paying top dollar for the stores.

All imo, I wish every single one of you all the best. Plenty of other shares out there, it’s not the end of the world. Your money is disposable, but your health and mental well-being is not.

Absolutely BlueBuxton, but be careful, when you place Shrewsbury to London in the booking engine, it recognises that you’re leaving from a station with lower customer numbers, so in my experience they bump up the price. Additionally, there are multiple operators at Crewe that run to London, so Avanti and others need to lower prices in order to remain competitive there, whereas at Shrewsbury, it’s just the one company that runs to London, so they know they can increase the price as it’s an effective monopoly for them in that area.

Usually, I split the ticket up (sometime Trainline will do this for you). I did do a check and I saw that booking from Shrewsbury to London Euston had cheapest ticket at about £68 return, almost double the amount from Crewe (and about 20% higher than the split up ticket of Shrewsbury->Crewe and then Crewe->London).

All depends on if you’re willing to take a few extra tickets, I’ve even had it in the past where you can book from a station earlier in the route and the cost is actually cheaper even though you’re getting on the exact same train at just a later time. All the algorithms and mechanisms in the booking engine are made to extract maximum profit, they’re clever companies lol

I have checked for departures on the morning of the AGM to avoid a hotel stay, but the prices are extortionate, I did not find one return journey for less than £100, so likely would be cheaper to have an overnight stay at a hotel than try to travel in the morning…

@BlueBuxton, I have a return journey booked for the early evening, so should be sufficient time. I estimate it will probably take no more than 2-3 hours?

In terms of travel for yourself, I don’t know if you have a car but tickets from Crewe will be significantly cheaper than from Shrewsbury as Crewe is a much busier station, I see that Crewe is about 50 minutes with the car from Shrewsbury station.

I remembered that you said you usually would arrive at London the night before and stay in a hotel. I just checked for tickets and I found some advance tickets for outbound on Wed 11th and inbound for Thurs 12th for £34 both ways (£17 each way thereabouts) both on Avanti if that works for you? It does say one ticket remaining at that price…

I can also see that to go from Shrewsbury to Crewe is about £10 either way in case you don’t have a car, so all in all you would be looking at about £54 total for both going and coming back from London. Not sure how that works for you, but just thought I would share my findings :)

PS: Once you’re in London, I see it’s another £12 for a return journey from London Euston to Wandsworth as well. Polite reminder that hotel cost is not included in all of this :)

Upsetting to hear the advance ones have gone, if you live particularly up north (Scotland) perhaps it may be worth getting a flight at all? I remember seeing that they’re quite cheap, particularly flybe (they’re back in operation).

My shares are held with T212, so they’re held in omnibus and in the custody of IBKR. So my name doesn’t appear on the register unfortunately.

I do believe that if you purchase shares through the big banks, your name is automatically put onto the register, so the likelihood is that you are already on it @BlueBuxton :)

I would check with the registrar through that email address, they got back to me after a day or two.

I hope we get something of good value out of it, fingers crossed that other shareholders in the meeting will ask broadly the same questions I was planning as well, mostly about deleveraging plans, Cineplex (which will almost certainly come up) and the US listing plans.

Let’s see what happens, I’m sure they’ll be something nice in store. CINE could have chosen to do another virtual AGM like other companies have done this year, but they’ve opted not to.

On the RNS with the Notice of AGM, there is an email at the bottom of it for the Company Secretary. Drop him an email and he will notify the registrar. He’s a lovely chap, very prompt replies for a Company Secretary.

RS, further more those convertible bonds do not actually convert until the share price increases, I remember reading the document and the conversion price was triple figures. I would be over the moon if this reaches triple figures.

Precisely FunInvestor and RS. I frequent the RR board and I see Metom spout constant nonsense there as well.

And Metom didn’t know about the huge active litigation we had going on before investing?

If Morrisons was still in public ownership then a buyout would have already come and gone from them by now imo.

Buyout would have been completed and way behind us, likely at a much higher price than today. CD&R (Morrisons acquirer) will take total advantage of Morrisons’s approval amongst the British public and rip us off, that is almost for certain.

These days Tesco is cheaper than Morrisons, all the money is being funnelled into American pockets as we speak, what a disgrace for a company like Morrisons that started from just a small corner shop to the behemoth it is today.

I still see a Morrisons buyout on the cards imo, the price is so cheap at the moment. If Amazon swoop in first then it will be a war between them and Morrisons imo, just too much retail space up for grabs. You never know, Tesco may even be interested to expand their Tesco Express offering. They are also doing something similar to Amazon Fresh down in London.

As a working class individual myself, I can say that as we are not spending money on expensive holidays, there is a bit of extra disposable income remaining to have that little bit extra at the cinema.

Understandably, it’s not the same for everyone, but I don’t see a large material impact in concessionary income on the way.

Travel booked, leave booked, itinerary scheduled and off I go.

However, I will not be able to ask questions as my shares are not under DRS, so I don’t appear on the shareholder register. After checking with the Secretary, I am now on the list as a guest.

I will, however, listen attentively and report back to here :)

@lejjb, this has been discussed at length numerous times.

With a recession potentially on the way, people will not be going on holidays/getaways and other forms of expensive entertainment. Instead, they will seek other low-cost forms of entertainment, and Cineworld is best equipped here, especially with their 4DX and other premium offerings.

If people are going to the cinema, concessions are essential for many. Nothing beats fresh hot popcorn and an ICEE.

Concessions will be just fine, and I anticipate that box office performance in H2 will be much better than H1.

Agreed @FunInvestor, I’m sure you remember that CINE stated that they don’t anticipate a result from the appeal until June of 2023 at the earliest.

@Deano, I don’t know if it’s actually in the courts and being heard by a judge, but for sure both sides will be preparing their defences by this point imo.
