@BlueBuxton, here are my calculations:

Crewe -> London Euston:
14:33-16:50 Wednesday and then 16:40-19:01 on Thursday. Total £46.20. Once in London, Tube to Vauxhall will cost about £2.40 one way, so £4.80 for both days. Vauxhall to Wandsworth Town is £5.80 for 2 anytime day singles. Travel insurance is 2x£1.75=£2.50. Adding it all together, I get £59.30.

Then I checked Crewe to Wandsworth Town, the same journey as close as I could find it was above £100 unless if you’re willing to wait until after peak time, where the cheapest I found was £72?

Goodness me, Miss Rosenthal put me to sleep at least once during the court sessions haha. I think you’ll have to do that call with her BlueBuxton, I’d fall asleep lol.

@BlueBuxton, upon a second look at the map that may be the case actually. I don’t know how you feel about taking the extra travel insurance that trainline offer you and splitting up the ticket?

I was checking Crewe to London Euston, apologies. Indeed I see that sort of price for Crewe -> Wandsworth, extortionate…

I sleep just fine on public transport personally, both coach and train, so decided I would save a bit that way. If you take the coach, there is a bit of a silver lining in that it will drop you off in Victoria rather than Euston which is very central. From Victoria it’s a simple District line train to West Brompton and then an overground down to Clapham Junction, then a bus. They will cap your fare past a certain amount.

@HNS lovely to hear you are coming. Would be great to hear another opinion of the meeting afterwards on here instead of just my own.

Shame I’m with Trading 212, the lengths I have gone through to try and get the ability to ask questions… Would have been easier to drive a Royal Mail lorry on a countryside road. Commissions are zero, but I guess there is a trade off somewhere.

I actually just rechecked for Crewe to London and there are still a few out there for £46 round trip. If you are willing, perhaps it could be worth checking coaches? I have booked an overnight coach journey outbound (6 hours) and then a train journey inbound (3 hours). I live in the West Yorkshire area.

@Fredster, I am of the exact same opinion. If the appeal is unsuccessful and if Cineplex is out for blood and don’t want to facilitate us, I do still believe that a silver lining would exist. But it is very high risk…

I also see that Mooky’s constant reluctance to discuss the matter goes to show that he is playing it carefully. If I were in Mooky’s situation right now, I would have started buying Cineplex stock until we are just below the threshold and then start to save some money up. If Cineplex refuse, then reveal your cards, take out a massive stake and show them that you mean business. Tell them that they have two options, either out of court settlement or hostile takeover and we will take care of it ourselves. Out of court settlement resolution will be reached in a matter of minutes, Cineplex shareholders would absolutely revolt if Cineworld took over their company. I would go down that route if it was legally viable.

Alternatively, Cineworld could put myself, BlueBuxton, RS, Bonkers etc etc (most LTHs here) on the BoD of Cineplex and we will take care of it, it would be the best feeling in the world to call up Mr Mark and tell him to close the case. And whilst we’re at it, we will do a hostile takeover of his bus company too! The world is our oyster CINE shareholders!

I actually hold a few thousand shares of McColl’s at 1p per share. I am up nearly 40%, but all frozen in place because it’s been suspended and is in administration! Took them as a complete punt.

Just about 1.5% of my portfolio.

However, CINE does not have the same relations to their lenders as MCLS did. MCLS lenders decided they were finished likely because the company was struggling to turn over profit. However, CINE has proven that they are still capable of profitable operations, look at Q4 last year.

Additionally, MCLS has a fair bit of value in their property estate to cover their approx £250m in debt, so lenders are likely to get something back. Not the same case with CINE, firstly vast majority of CINE’s total liabilities are in lease liabilities, if I’m not mistaken they get paid first. Then other lenders like the banks would come next, banks would see close to nothing. Hence, there is very little incentive for lenders in CINE to let the company fall, whereas for MCLS, there was much more incentive for it to happen.

That is all my opinion.

@BlueBuxton, absolutely it is quite highly priced.

I know Trainline offer travel insurance for £1.75 per booking, which covers you for lost connections and missed trains IIRC, if you go on to the payment page near the bottom it will give you the option to add it on. If you split the ticket cost up and spend £54 on the tickets plus the insurance you’d probably find yourself paying about £58-60? Perhaps take a look at that?

There was a two hour period where both the FTSE and the US markets were open at the same time, FTSE didn’t make many large movements.

@Casper, in my opinion the Sky News article is sensationalised to whip up a panic. MCLS never said imminent (which means bound to happen).

Indeed there could be a last minute bid. Let’s wait and see what happens.
