There will be those selling into a rise; when they get 10%, 26.5p, back in profit, cash call...whatever reason they have.
Up to them, their choice, but the rest of know the real money is in the holding.
Imo...there's still a lot to play out, but most realise it's no time to be trading now. Probably have to put up with usual spikes down to catch stop losses, but think we're moving into new territory (pun intended ;)) now.

I believe the 'books have to balance at end of day' is just another of the urban myths that surround around MM's...I mean, even without knowing, just thinking logically, would they/you adopt a practice- without legal obligation - that made it harder for them/you to make a buck?

I think markets usually tick up/bounce at start of new year as more punter money gets sacked in (barring calamities over the hols).
