My take on the standstill agreement with BHP was always:
Solg needed funding so allowed BHP to build a nice stake in return not only for the funding which has allowed 2 years of drilling but also enough time to prove up a truer value. Nick has control over the share register so BHP knew they had to play ball. When the standstill is up they can make an offer which would be a lot higher that 2 years less driving would have given. We effectively tied their hands while building a good relationship at the same time.
Why else have BHP been so quiet lately and it explains radio silence, you could almost say it's been a done deal for the last 18 mouths or so.

O and I forgot to add, that's just the UK which accounts for apx 1.6% of world emissions. Good luck with India , China, Russia etc etc

= End to supermarket shopping. reason= no large scale transportation. Ie uneconomical to run supermarkets.
No importation of food( light years away from electric transport planes and cargo ships.
No holidays abraod.
No major transport infrastructure , so no hospitals or schools because the doctors and teachers can't get there.
18 million households in the UK barred from using their gas central heating systems.
You can convert the average 3 bed semi into electronic heating for around 8 grand. But it will be no where near as snug as gas heating and you will need much better insulation.

If one billion people go to bed hungrey as suggested by the international red cross, by my culculation that's 6 billion of us that don't. I would say most of the human race is well feed. If you take fossil fuels away and one or 2'other things that the unrealistic don't like lots more of us would go with out.

You could not feed the UK with out importing food. Every intelligent person knows that.
I would rather protect the human race first. Protect the plant by all means but not at the cost of mass starvation

Rusty makes a good point about the country actually selling the licences for a good price, you can't have your cake and eat it.
If the protesters owned the land that was being mine. Most would change their point of view completely imo.
Has would the climate change activists. If you explained to them that,for their zero nonsense in the next few years idea was to come about it would mean, no food on supermarket shelf's, no citrus fruits in winter for the kids. All food sourced locally. So for 250000 people lining in my borough that's just drinking milk from local cows and fresh vegetables from local land( no trucks to transport). Great we all die of starvation but at least the plant is happy.
Can everyone wake up please and realise there are 7 billion people on the plant, we are healthy and well feed for the most part thanks to fossil fuel.
All sensible people while realising change needs to come, have a duty to nip this ativisim in the bud.

On the one hand, I'm thinking solg would be obliged to inform us they are in talks and as a consequence limiting news. But on the other hand, Marl never mentioned a thing until revealing sandstorm had bought them out. Marl would have been talking to sandstorm for a decent amount of time., And people are correct to remember the marl so drifted a lot before hand.

I don't like the nonsense this new CEO comes out with
" Brands with a social conscience" etc etc. If it ain't broke don't fix it. How about that?

Regardless of why someone decides to invest, it does not excuse bad behaviour by the board. When they wanted a top up from me and many other small shareholders a few years back, when they were off the radar of companies like BHP, they could not stop telling us what they had and what we could expect. How times and attitudes change.

I always believed NM was looking out for the army of small shareholders that have backed solg for years. Remember the 3p raise a few years ago? That was small holder's putting their hands in their pockets long before the BHP and Newcrest money came in.
Long-term small shareholders played a part in the discovery of Alpala believe it or not.
We should be shown respect, and I believed we were.

It takes years to invent new antibiotics. And they can only use educated guesses as to which will work with future viruses. The viruses of the future are unknown

This is a med/long-term hold. With the possibility that an offer could come at some unknown stage. So the long term case to hold is there as is the short term case.
Simple if you look at it in those terms. I'm happy to hold although sad than the exciting days seems to have past(for now)
I will continue to monitor the progress here regularly but only because I have a wider interest in the markets. Remember solg is just one of many shares out there, so chill

Looking at the timeline solg are very busy this year. With construction of the mine actually scheduled to start NEXT YEAR.
We could go from news blackout to an RNS every other day one day.

We were first the get the best plots. That's the important thing longer term even if it is taking an age. Things might speed up soon hopefully
