According to a report by industry body Offshore Energies UK (OEUK), the decrease means the sector has achieved its 2027 emissions target, of a 25% reduction in emissions from the production of oil and gas, four years ahead of schedule.

You could make a case that a 50% reduction will be in place by 2026, making our own oil & gas supplies are the same as our Norway supply - ergo why is producing our own oil & gas such a no no?

I can never understand why politicians consider the Uk population of being stupid and quite happy to be force fed disingenuous slants when it comes to statements orated on the media.

Take UK gas supplies for instance.

One third of our gas supply to the Uk is via LNG tankers, with a carbon footprint 4 times greater than our own NS supply. They readily omit to state this

Norway imported gas through the Langeled pipeline is our main supplier of natural gas, which has half the carbon footprint of our own gas (size matters - Troll/Sliepner). Now theirs a slippery eel for Mr Milliband to voice.

Our own NS supply is on course to reduce our carbon footprint 25% by 2027 and 50% by 2030. Nothing mentioned as it would muddy the water somewhat.

What a target (like Nordstream) for some unscrupulous foreign entity to damage the UK's drive for growth.

Surely our own supply is a given??????????????

We have a small company with an MC of £11 million and cash of roughly £9m, so for a drill to circa 4000m on Skerryvore thats a pretty hefty cost which means they have to raise the cash somehow.

Not a slam dunk this one by any means - wonder if Mr Cross would like to wear a Serica jacket - it would help our green credentials owning a windmill!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Seriously though I don't disagree re a good fit, although Mercuria's "green" credentials would disagree and the new Mercuria management at Serica.

This is no longer a small E& P run by ACW but a completely different animal - crying shame springs to mind as I have Serica since 2008 - was also burnt by the Liberator faux pas and should have heeded the relinquishment report by Dana that defined a complex / fragmented system that was considered difficult.

I accumulated more i3e shares, considering that Serica may well make an offer, but after yesterdays update I'm of the opinion that its not going to happen. Agree that it would be a fit, but the new CEO will await news of Oct budget decisions and any fallout from it.

Seems that Eni/Ithaca are the golden boys, having Starmer and Milliband at their office yesterday for talks.

Lets go for a nice 80 million share buyback in one hit tomorrow. Keeps Mercuria just under 30% and cancellation saves a few bob.

Yes I Have always pondered why Mr & Mrs Hardy have neither re invested dividends, nor added/reduced their holding. Apparently they were a Midlands couple running a business, so I'm surmising they invested company money in the 4/5p range (not that I would suggest they had any affiliation with ACW or other execs at the time) I invested at these prices so they may well have followed similar intuition.

If their company has been receiving dividends (tax paid by Serica) they may well have been more than happy with the status quo.

Similar trap to myself receiving a six figure divi the last two years. Must go to Donkey rescue and put myself up for sale.

I also wonder if Tony Craven Walker has still held his shares and is regretting it. Certainly Mr Flegg is.

We do seem to have reached a position whereby the newscast and authorities are now continuously reporting news that suggests the policy/tax on north sea oil is flawed.

Whether this government takes notice is another thing, but I am sure it will be well remembered as a historical matter.

Dick, Saturation Divers are a whole different breed!!! Their ppm for CO2 is relative to depth but kept pretty much in the range of partial pressure CO2 of 5 mb, with short periods (15 min) up to 10mb.

So for 150m water depth in the North Sea thats 312-625ppm

Would like to think the latest nukes being built in Barrow in Furness normally range between 400-600ppm
