I'm no expert, but I'm assuming the CO2 needs liquification ($17 per ton) and for some of these offshore reservoirs, similar to water injection, at 70-150bar downhole.

Add in transportation, etc and we probably get to a figure around $20, similar to our Bruce cost per barrel boe.

Unfortunately the biggest fillip for Mr Milliband is that Norway supplies the UK with 41% of its annual gas consumption. Our own industry supplies around 30% and is a captive audience. Taxed to fail means companies assets are effectively worthless and the likes of BP and Shell should be screaming from the pulpit. The beckoning silence reeks of knighthoods and games within games.

I remember the decisions made decades ago, with the Norwegian Trench being over 1000ft deep, the likes of Troll / Sleipner fields routing their gas to the Uk side of the n sea, linked to our system. Lo and behold they have a ready customer nowadays - manna from heaven Mr Milliband - now how do we direct norwegian gas to europe instead of uk?????????

Norways main fields Troll, Sleipner are tied in to the UK pipeline network, so its coming here anyway, but boy do we need it. Norway maximising its north sea development as it has a ready consumer - us!! Whilst we have our resident stop oil, green brigade and Mr Milliband negating any help with our own supply - ultimately EPP is gong to be a gas supplier so it has the same problems as all current UK based oil& gas companies.

Way, way back in the 80's or was it the 90's, when the first windfarm was installed off Walney Island, Barrow in Furness a concept was proposed to harness the small gas fields in the vicinity off Walney, originally found by Amoco. A single well was proposed from a Jack Up and the Gas/Generator tied into the Windfarm system. When the wind didnae blow, they would burn gas. Once one field depleted the Jack Up would move to the second small field. These are now called Knox and Lowry.

Brilliant idea - but nothing came of it - this has certain similarities but I wish them well

Like yourself I'm a long term holder, although I halved my position at 161p many years ago. Initial purchase was at an average of 19p so can't complain . No such luck since and added to my position at 8-9p.

I know its within the UK sector, but Parkmead MC is now worth the cash it has in the bank. Mr Cross needs to be persuaded he would be better off wearing a Serica tie at the Marcliffe charity bash. To show both sides of the coin, the Troll field has reduced its carbon emission's to half the current Norway carbon emissions through electrification. Now how do we get a cable to Bruce - or a floating windmill.

According to a report by industry body Offshore Energies UK (OEUK), the decrease means the sector has achieved its 2027 emissions target, of a 25% reduction in emissions from the production of oil and gas, four years ahead of schedule.

You could make a case that a 50% reduction will be in place by 2026, making our own gas supplies are the same as our Norway supply - ergo why is producing our own gas such a no no?
