Without naming any as I don't want to get into tipping territory these days..yes there are several examples of what I call "oscillator" shares.Using the method of buying at the low end and selling at the higher end.One I can mention -as the chance has now gone- was highlighted in IC mag. last week-Rambler RMM which they said goes in the range 22p or so to the 30p or so band.Lo and behold this week it got to 28p from 22p! It isn't always cut and dried of course like that.And as soon as a mag. mentions it the chance is lost more or less.Here those over exposed could have sold AFE at around 1p a week ago now they might buy back at 0.53p.Which at least allows "depressurising" higher average slices.Of course again there's the 30 day rule which some ignore but the HMRC apply that in the so called B&B rule.There's the option yes risky of seeking profits elsewhere while serving the 30 days.Or just banking it while out.This is still a highly difficult market in which we need to be Agile while distributing losses either by making up elsewhere or at the very least recording these for CG credits against future CG gains.I constantly watch the "iii sectors"-a great site- in fact this week Retail is top- might that be internet sales with the High Street closing ? Mining and oils remains so-so sectors any recovery muted though I suspect a giimmer of action in certain gold miners generally larger stable producers.Which seems a better bet since these are right down at minimums and physical gold is selling well.Yes equally paper gold isn't.Are gold mining shares paper too ? Not if the company is backing that by producing well.Again I won't mention specifics as above..GL

AGQ has a number of SEDAs to come,with that some believe the share gets boosted before the placing gets made,YAG are shorting now they say.Not my business but I might be back there one day but only when they pay for the ball mill.A number of gold/silver shares seem to be trying to form a base,earlier of 169 miners for a week's progress- all sizes -on iii sectors 64 up,3 steady,102 down.We aren't there yet you'll need to pick winners as always including SOLG today 1st,CNR was 8th.AGQ 149th !!

I'm looking today at a few producing silver and gold miners-which were-FRES,AGQ,silver; and HOC,AVM,OMI,POG,ABG and RRS. I've held all these in the past except HOC and ABG.All were good companies then.From the charts without having time to sift the news assuming that's OK,it does seem on the surface that all of these are hovering possibly to see where they go,after lengthy big falls.There has to be value somewhere,but what timescale are we looking at ? So many false dawns making any forecasting very shaky..GL.

Generally shares continue apparently locked down in previous modes-FTSE350 hovering at the top-will they slump soon ? Miners,oils seem to be tied into chaotic falls.So you become either a top or bottom surfer,either way the risks are high.Banks and bonds appear busted.Doing well appears to be physical gold-not the paper forms- but might Bernanke grab that as FDR did in 1932-3 ? Also houses though who are those who can get mortgages and afford them.It's quite creepy watching TV shows selling wonderful Spanish homes at rock bottom rates-were the previous holders bankrupt expats from previous TV progs ?

Again at the "buying level" around 272p-273p up to about 290p,4 previous oscillations in that band.

IF shares are below 0.1p,say 0.08 or 0.09p you'll get a problem seen with my own broker in which only two decimal places are allowed for all transactions.This appears a fairly new thing,I'm sure it was allowed in the past.Anyway,it has been seen with other shares that if stated elsewhere as 0.085p for example shareholders cannot deal except at 0.08p or 0.09p but nothing in between.It becomes harder to trade therefore.GL.

-I'd decided for a time to stop investing in these miners.Thanks for the news update,been too busy to research that so much.The case here must be based partly on charts(though I'm by no means any chart freak),company and sector news/facts always the most important, but what might help longer term is the fiat currency/moneyprinting/QE position.On that ,physical gold is in demand while paper gold-ETFS's etc. is being sold down.Some might regard gold shares as paper gold but it is directly backed by gold production for the better companies.I think we've got the first two covered well,but the latter is potentially the most explosive.Yes it might dish us again, but equally could send gold shares into orbit.Not that I want much more than to make a few bob here,anyway at least you seem have some profits here which is good! So far I can't see much signs of other companies showing more than looking like bottoming but you never know.GL.

yes I hung back on this weeks after first noting it- or renoting- as I once held this before it fell, even got a profit then about two years ago..really put off miners since.However in for a penny in for a pound lol.With OMI and AVM these MIGHT be in process of building bases at 9p and 12p resp. ? Still this is a rather dodgy sector all told,wouldn't recommend my grandmother buying any lol.

I see in Canada it was up 10% yesterday (why ?). Anyway charts now-a buy signal was given on 20 May with a system I use where the 5 day crosses the 20 day moving average.MACD 4.7/2.8 strongly rising ,while the relative strength is 64% so might be a bit more in tank today ? Anyway 355p or whatever isn't a big figure for KGI as it reached over 1200p in 2011.

yes I'm going in now putting money where my mouth is-had to leave it with a limit to buy which shows it is in demand,prepared to stay a while too,I expect rises and falls.Yes I know this is a form of paper gold,but since there's no country risk,and research seems to indicate the company is strongly based,I await the results.A straw in the wind about possible future events helping gold is a TV prog. yesterday where an economist said the proportion of derivatives is 700 times the world economy and is at $500 trillion now,of course that's 500 thousand billion.He also highlighted that in the west paper gold eg ETF are sold while in the east they buy physical gold instead.

re-your question.Most goldminers are still plumbing the depths as you know.Watch OMI -earlier - and, later AVM. But it might take months yet.Market Oracle an article there says that might be the general time scale.
