I'll be a very poor 3rd this week,as IMT is ex-directory down at least 5% due to big dividend,will get that twice a year with BATS also first one in March too..AHT threw out takeover of Lavendon, the broker said was correct decision,so a small rise today there.I've mentioned about confidentiality of the deal with FBT and U Tube though will come out later in year..so overall yes it sounds like excuses I've picked shares which for various reasons peaked at Xmas..I will give you all a good competition I'm sure in due time but not for a while due to these effects.If I didn't think that I'd withdraw but no question of that lol! Congrats to Jibbo,and prar' especially on clever successes so far,not forgetting JT.I suppose as with me last year the tail end Charlie does a service to help the front runners feel better by holding them up!

AHT is making a joint bid now with a European company to take over Lavendon the "powered access leader in Europe",explaining the drop in SP from AHT after a large rise pre-Xmas..of course if the bid is successful there might be increased AHT rofits later in the year.

I see Mulled Wine also brought news that Credit Sisse regards certain shares including tobaccos as being "a gold standard of value,more stable even than government debt".IMT apparently temporarily down due to pre-dividend adjustments,the dividend being generous there is a corresponding cut in the SP at that payment time.CNE-lovers please note lol.Hahaha!-sorry.

I wasn't meaning to be downputting.I know this is part of a portfolio insurance policy.You have other things riskier and rely on BATS/IMT to provide a bit of backbone,which the higher dividends never cease to attract.And yes these should come into their own in event of any more general Euro- meltdowns.

It seems according to the excellent news at FBT from Mulled Wine,I shouldn't worry about it being a "potential winner" for my VPF.They are constrained by a confidentiality agreement about the ground-breaking YouTube but this will come through soon in income and sales.CNE are one of up to about 6 companies interested in either a takeover or JV with Rockhopper.An American company might be best bet as of now for political reasons.

IMT-and BATS have been off their all-time highs since year start.Possibly defensives a bit less attractive given less publicity for Europe and the US allegedly recovering in an election year ? I'd say £28 here was a bit ambitious...

WPP the last of these,up just below 11.3% now,a net 7.8%,or £ 78 on a 1k amount of shares...will go on running this.

10.23% for WPP now the only one left running, being 6.73% net,or £67.30 profit on a 1k scale.I could take that but will resist temptation and let it run on.

Well yes our visitor from Mars would wonder when so many depressed mining shares would ever rise again.Even BLT has suffered,down from 2631 in April to 2056 now,though as with many larger ones there's a slight recovery from later December.Proving it hasn't been wholly due to cash reserves or company visibility,two things which have indeed hit the likes of BEM,CNR,RRR,ATC,etc.In fact most AIM miners.

about the doubts of Chevron-and these majors were "hiding behind" CNE by doing nothing at their Greenland blocks for 2 years....Worst case scenario.CNE fail to find oil in Greenland even after sinking $1bn over several seasons..CNE buy Rockhopper-fail to find oil.Or even another Falklands war breaks out as a result of them finding oil...

The way this is looking I might be making about £70 on the three once this finishes.That isn't much for the risk of 1k for each of them.I'd not consider this method sure enough to hazard more.It seems to help in making you "run your winners and ditch your losers" which is the correct way to go about things.I had a bit of problem where shares are flat as with ARM it makes deciding whether moving averages are actually falling a problem.Also you can still lose a good part of any profits waiting for even the 5 day moving average to begin falling.You might say bring in even shorter moving averages but then you risk selling too fast.Probably the main conclusion is share investing is a very hard thing-don't I know that ? Anyway if anyone feels they want a source of lowish income this method appears fairly good.But again you need to risk some money into it.
