now at over a 50% loss..was getting the message before that itsaduster was an enthusiast well up in technics but less so on technical investing skill as you say..sorry but about shares tightly held- if its my interpretation which was a high proportion of large declared investors-we find in fact there is-Sprott 11.1% Resolute 12.26% Van Eck 6.6% Columbia Wagner 5.5% DH Dobson 5.4% LA Micheal 5% i.e major investors about 46% which isn't high. all I can give is my own reactions here..I hope there will be no going private here..I do not intend to average down either,had too much of that elsewhere in the past..it has been highly difficult for anyone who invested last year,nicer for anyone coming in fresh now though they too would want this to be better..yes their all in costs still appear rather high though they are lowering their running costs GL

Long term holding of reasonable profit making pharmas has not been too scary a ride compared to many other shares.Look at GSK one of the biggest and best.From 1996 to 2004 it varied from 806 to 2075.Yes that was quite variable though a long time ago.However going through the worst world slump in memory in 2007-8 GSK was in the band from 2004 till now of 1042p to 1713p.Not to my mind enough to scare the horses.Therefore I'm prepared to consider holding AGY a longer time.Of course will always keep researching to see if this is valid.

you say you are new.Realise that in the US bios are tanking maybe getting ready for a general share slump after 5 plus years of boom.AGY is still a good company-check the figures you should agree.BUT-general trends always win.Depending on your personality,experience,financial state- even yes bravery you might stay in here.However there is this chance of a general fall now.GL

these ups and mostly downs are being done on a small fraction of the shares,a few hundred thous of 410m shares.So I don't see them as significant.The silent majority are holding fast.You can still get rises as we saw a week or so ago.I see this as a good company,possibly some effects from where similar companies lost in the US recently.

I rather rashly swapped AVM which had some probs. for AGY.However also have AGY in R/L.It is actually a very good company making profits all over Europe and America,has no debts,a cash pile and is over 70% owned privately.Since good results it was sold down every day with the help of the MM's.These kinds of shenanigans lose respect to the stockmarket.Whether it rises or falls it'll stay in my VPF.At least the 33% drop gives a closer contest which is good.Gold has also sold off this time the Fed. are doing the shenanigans lol.So the likes of JT slould take heart as steady middle of the road companies might do better now ? Anyway thrre quarters to go so nothing is decided. GL

ABG was quite a good share to invest in between later March and early April when I sold.It had already been hit by previous troubles and bad feeling of the market.I managed therefore to make a small profit here pon selling.PFKg seems correct that gold might have a rocky time quite soon.The Fed. according to Harvey Organ has been hitting gold the hardest this year ever since before the last taper,so far a fall in the HUI since mid March has hardly been arrested yet.Though yes a few days this week was a slight recovery maybe due to the expiry of the March options.The next big hit shpuld be about April 25th before the next taper on May 1st.Then intoi the sell in May usual thing plus the normal June/July nlow gold time of the year.I'd guess the only gold positions to hold are quite longterm ones.Long term goldholding has always been right since most of the world began printing cash like fury..but unfortunately we are also up against the huge high frequency trading HFT derivatives- trading against gold where $1 of derivative shorts covers $100 of gold.Hopeful that the investigation into HFT is allowed to lead to alleged prosecutions though..GL

The thousands who have sold this for more than a week with the initial encouragement of the MM's have sold shares of a good company with nil debts,profitmaking,a pipeline of drugs and widespread sales in many countries all doing well.There is large backing from private investors and brokersBut.it is up to them what they do.Also the usual sheeplike reflex from a magazine which was tipping them strongly just two weeks ago.GL
