GH's article in Global Mining Review7 Apr 2020 12:33
I think it's important not to overlook GH's words in his article where he emphasises the benefits of juniors working with majors. When referring to GGP and NCM JV at Havieron he writes:
"Here the 20 million oz Telfer gold mine is an excellent example of how the industry is likely to replace existing deposits. Owned by Newcrest Mining, the largest gold producer in Australia, Telfer has been mined since the 1970s, but it is now approaching the end of its economic life. Yet the extensive infrastructure already in place, and Newcrest's extensive expertise - particularly in block caving techniques - means it can add significant value to prospective deposits nearby. This opens the door for Joint Ventures (JVs) with local junior explorers, as is currently the case at Havieron, allowing the gold major to extend the life of its mine by trucking high grade feed."
"At the same time for the junior, tapping into pre-existing infrastructure accelerates exploration of the discovery at lower costs and without the need for additional company-level dilution".
If these words from GH don't instil even more confidence, little else will. The trucking sounds like an already foregone conclusion and GH's reference to the value increase to nearby deposits because of existing infrastructure is very noteworthy. The final word on the impact this has on accelerating exploration of the discovery is the pincher for me.
