However, a separate brand catering for the wide-screen sport fraternity might work. I say might, because we did have a separate brand with music, Lloyds No. 1 bars, and that was not judged a success. Likewise brands for the less-discerning customer; Tesco's Jack's and Somerfield's Kwiksave, had to be re-absorbed. The motor industry manages cut-price in-house brands but imo not comparable to pubs.

Johnp, I think this already happens to an extent, as the Spoons in my nearest city has higher prices than the one in my nearest town. Both still very competitive for locality. As posted earlier, (town venue) prices up 10% last 3m. Imo sound approach, increase margins but keep an eye on actual takings.

Spending the weekend in Cumbria, Spoons in Barrow prices comparable with my nearest town: bet they are higher in Keswick (lovely building). On quality, Barrow had no entries in the CamRA guide before The Furness Railway was included.

Johnn, I do something similar, and yes, do hang onto the bulk. You might gain, you might lose, but if it drops back you can hold some profit, and decide if to buy-back. For all not just prem, dyor.

Not for me to offer investment advice, but many advocate diversity. If you have £40k in one company and £360k in other companies and sectors, that is diverse investment. If you have your total wealth in one company that is a gamble; good luck! Of course if the one company multibags after you had shrewdly diversified, you will kick yourself quite a bit: we all kick ourselves for the gains we missed. Play safe!

GLA. If the "hunch" is true, then unless the perpetrators are deluded environmentalists, the time will arrive unheralded when restraint is released, imo.
