Taver, no, imo Jabez is correct on demand too. A continued reduction in carbon burning seems to be necessary. The amount and quality of employment, to develop and provide the necessary new technologies, will exceed that lost in petroleum refining and distribution.
Current and recent governments are blinkered, or just stupid, in trying to incentivise petroleum imports versus home production. Corrupt economies benefit (e.g.Venezuela Nigeria Russia), carbon emissions increase to ship it round the world, our economy gets depressed and balance of payments suffers. Plus less tax take going forward. How do we deserve these clowns: must have done something very bad?
