It is a joke but a bloody apposite one. The government has abused it's monopoly client status. You might say they saved us all money as taxpayers, but they just take what they want and fritter it on benefits cluster bombs and comprehensive schools, rather than deserving cases like ncyt.

To set our pricing merely in response to competitors' would be bad.

It is also bad to be forfeiting 10+% more income for zero more cost.

I have considerable respect, admiration even, for the business model (while I wish Tim would stop lecturing the customers). Any company might have dominated the high street bar business: this one has good value real ale, good value food, very good value hot and soft drinks by industry standards. As both customer and shareholder, what's not to like? (Yes I know really, the divi and some other customers.)

Heid posts repeatedly about performance related pay, but wrongly relating it to SP. The market sets sp, not the BoD. By all means relate their pay and benefits to profitability: it matters not whether the owners get that value by divi, buybacks, or investment in further profitable assets. Generally, imo, the BoD has made good judgements, the odd sticky one a while back.
