Well, my views won't suit all on here, but here goes!

Taking our Wressle gas to grid might pay back it's cost over a very long time, never even.

It would displace gas we are importing, balance of trade gain.

It would eliminate the carbon which transports the imported gas, gain.

The imported gas has to be liquified and then re-phased to gas: this uses energy (typically carbon), also invariably loses some ch4 to atmosphere, which is a worse greenhouse culprit than CO2. Gain.

Ujo is not a charity, or friends of the earth. But we, the owners, rely on the UK economy and on this dear old queer old planet for our good times, so maybe we cut them some slack?

Mr_Bl, if on Deansgate I think the Moon Under Water, common jdw name, arises from George Orwell I think. Yes a huge but beautiful building. As well as standard drinks, real ale, & food; bear in mind jdw also does good value hot and soft drinks, areas where others rip off.

In the current strained economy, would you invest in Shepherd Name, Marston's (W&D post-takeovers), or jdw. The other two are good companies but really the question is rhetorical. Where will the cash-strapped, who still want to eat drink and be merry, flock?

Funst, it doesn't work easily. If you have a drilled gas resource near a co2 producer, it might be possible to support pressure through injection.
