Causing delays and costs as red tape and inspections will be mandatory. (at EU entry/exit points)

At present being in the single market and customs union is tariff free with trade mostly seamless with minimum costs and delays (apart from the inevitable traffic delays)
Clearly the extra costs to businesses will be in multi-billions.

My suspicion is that Scotland would use the Pound Sterling for some transition period which might be to its own pegged currency in the first instance. However, one thing it will not get is joint control over a central bank controlling Sterling at anything remotely like a 50:50 basis.
