British Chancellor of the Exchequer Rishi Sunak confirmed on Thursday the British government's furlough scheme had been extended for another month, until the end of April 2021, "with employees continuing to receive 80% of their current salary for hours not worked."
"Employers will be required to pay wages, National Insurance Contributions (NICS) and pensions for hours worked; and NICS and pensions only for hours not worked," Sunak's statement read. "The eligibility criteria for the scheme will remain unchanged as I have previously set out."
Earlier in the day, British Health Secretary Matt Han**** announced more areas of the country would enter a Tier 3 lockdown due to new spikes in cases of COVID-19.
