Ray I expect the #lastleg tag was because he was tweeting in response to a request for tweets from the presenter of The Last Leg.

Good point about the 'not joking' WTP...but maybe he was just being clear that this is a real vaccine rather than a joke response....

OK I've got the answer. I've just watched the first 15 mins of The last Leg (which seems to be an anti Tory show) and they got onto talking about vaccines and how they are regional i.e. Oxford Vaccine, Novavax vaccine is Geordie...and they asked people to tweet what other regional vaccines they would like to see (no doubt expecting some funny answers). Hence the Prof Bates tweet.

Did anybody watch 'The Last Leg' by the way. Maybe David was watching and there was a joke along the lines of...'you wait months for a vaccine and then 3 come along at once....' in response to which David tweeted 'Next Covid vaccine from
@scancellpharma @UniofNottingham #lastleg not joking!'. Maybe it was just an innocent tweet after all....but then why did Scancell retweet (unless Cliff also watched The Last Leg and wanted to get in on the action).

It also begs the questions (a) why did Prof Bates make this tweet in the first place, and (b) why use this particular words ? As far as I know he isn't a regular initiator of tweets relating to Scancell or Covidity and has in the past only retweeted about 3 items (sky news piece, job adverts, UKRI funding). Seems that the Notts/Scancell vaccine work was very much on his mind last night for some reason, and so much so that he was motivated to initiate a Scancell related tweet for the first time.

Very interesting that Scancell retweeted this. It is fine retweeting items which draw attention to the fact that Scancell is developing a vaccine, or to the benefits of their vaccine, but the tweet in question implies that the vaccine may be moving forward quicker then we thought or may be about to be accelerated. As a listed company Scancell must know that they need to be careful not to mislead the market in their communications (whether this be via social media or any other method), so perhaps there is more to this than meets the eye. Also David Bates will no doubt be fairly close to what is happening around Covidity given that he works in the same are and department as Jonathan Ball and Lindy....

...this comment seems to indicate that things are moving in the right direction with BioNTech, otherwise why start referencing potential future activities ? Interesting.

I also suspect that any talk of nasdaq listing and the US market in general will become irrelevant post FDA approval as AGL will IMO be quickly gobbled up by a major diagnostics player.

Given the rise today these appear to be buys from earlier in the day which have been reported after hours.

Based on yesterday's price movements and trades, followed by the tick up today with little obvious reason why, I suspect that something is brewing....

Interesting retweet from Scancell yesterday indicating that early induction of T-Cell response is associated with milder disease whereas those with severe disease had significant antibody response but poor T-Cell response. Roll on Covidity.

I'm sure that at one point AN indicated that they are looking forward to announcing Pharma contracts relating to the lab service (for clinical trials) - did anyone else catch this ? If so it sounds like they must have some contracts in the pipeline already. Also good to hear that one of the labs will be up and running this quarter.

The mention of Scancell on the headline is a copy and paste error as the same text is correctly included on the news item from a few months ago announcing that they will manufacture the Scancell DNA vaccine.

Hi researcher1 - yes I agree that it would be good if if a buyout can be resisted but I can imagine that a lot of investors will find it difficult to decline £5 a share, even the US investors as it would give them an 8-10 fold return.
