I knew nothing about this Matilda prospect but if we do have a decent porphyry on anything like a 4km by 4km scale that is very exciting indeed.

Easy, agreed - it’s pure sentiment that has taken this so low and the SP is now radically detached from any sensible valuation. I’m expecting a significant bounce, although hard to predict over what time scale

I agree they probably don’t get watched by many outsiders and therefore don’t encourage new buyers. But they may encourage existing investors to buy more, or to hold rather than sell, so I think they do have a positive effect on SP over time. I also personally think they enhance the wider shareholder experience

Excellent interview on Sharetalk. Interesting that Ben thinks only 3 or 4 drill holes to verify that the GRS geophysical target is (or is not) an IOCG

I don’t think there’s anything in the drop from 1.5 to 1.3. Most companies of this type have fallen by a similar amount or more over the same period

F79, I agree - nothing against POW but what we need is someone with either cash or an in house drill rig and team

Sounds to me like it was maybe something to do with defending against concerted shorting or something. Not a topic I know much about, but to be fair Ben does

No point me trying to add to Keith’s comments on the GRS, but I do have a couple of comments on the placing:

1. There’s no particular suggestion that the placing is required in order to take particular new steps on the GRS.

2. Instead it is said that “A number of work streams are nearing completion and we will be able to deploy the new funds quickly”.

3. A completely implausible attempt is made to suggest that First Equity suggested the placing and Kav merely agreed. Obviously not.

4. Interestingly, I don’t think Kav were quite ready to go live on the GRS. They say “ Kavango to present the GRS IOCG exploration model to shareholders in the next week”. That suggests to me that they could have done with another week but needed to put something out now to accompany the placing.

Putting all of the above together, I think there is likely to be more news, probably on the KCB, in the next few weeks, which will then explain the real reason for the placing

Yes, they might say they want to do a 1.5km drill and that if result is as modelled we’re likely off to the races with a big partner

If they have actually confirmed that the red spot hosts an IOCG deposit, that seems MUCH more significant than any pros or cons of the placing, no?

D220, I would say there are two main models for placings:

1. Wait for (or create) a price spike and place into it at a substantial discount to current price.

2. Place at a small premium to a relatively low price, with good news to come.

On an ultra short term basis, 1 may offer a better placing price. However, in my experience, 1 is likely to create toxic price action for an extended period.

So, if the model for this placing is 2, that seems to me to be a reasonable decision overall. But we’ll see

People who can’t tolerate broker-led placings shouldn’t invest in explorers. Such placings are like death and taxes in this sector, yet they always results in people hopping up and down. Can’t understand the reaction, personally
