Never sell shell
I too think £5 is possible this year, but to be honest I am probably more surprised that sp is not there already with Oil at 80:dollars so what do I know

I think all are entitled to an opinion,but everyone should remember there are newbie’s looking in thinking that this is where they can get advice from people who know.( terrifying I know but even these days people take advise from strange places)
No one knows what will happen tomorrow we could be £5 next week if Shell came in with a merger(do I think that will happen NO!)
Or There could be a major incident in Middle East and Oil could hit 100 dollars,again I don’t expect but anything is possible (not probable)
Think some people (me included) spend to much time following the sp.
If we are buy and hold there’s to much obsessions with day to day sp
All just my opinion

Think at sometime the div will get a 25% increase.(4p up to 5p)
The big question is when ,would definitely HOPE that it happens before next year end.
That will be a catalyst for a bit of upward movement in sp,but till then I am happy for BP to take advantage of this low sp and buy out the sellers.
Think when sp finally moves upward £4 will take a bit of breaking through as the people who bought around £3 might want to cash in some profit
But let’s get there first before we worry about that

I have no doubt whatsoever that at some point next year BP sp will be above £3.65 hope it will stay above that price but 100% sure at some time it will hit it

Looking forward to next year when this site becomes busy again as BP lifts off.
I think buybacks have put a floor in for sp( there now I’ve jinxed it for all you people wanting to buy more at a lower price).
It would be nice if buybacks started to have impact on a rising sp,and maybe make sellers hold off hoping for higher sp if the wait

BBC announcing that infection levels in London may have already peaked that would be good news for UK an Oil and BP

Saw that article myself and was surprised that 75% of BP owned by institutions.
It also give value of shares owned by the board

I’m very much not a Chartist,but I do prefer a rising chart to a falling one.
It wouldn’t take much for the oil price to start giving higher highs again,there is a trend there to continue.
BP looks much the same ,so it’s not hard to feel bullish going into a New Year.
Still waiting on BP doing something stunning and game changing,as they have often made big changes in the past.
My thought is always you have to be in BP or at some time you will regret,and in the not too distant future we will look back and wish we had picked up even more shares below £2 or £3 or maybe soon £4.

Looking for someone board enough to post and help me understand properly.
What I think. BP market cap approx 90b dollars ( numbers don’t matter it’s how it all fits I want)
Does market cap only represent number of share multiplied by sp?
Debt in shown as 30 b dollars
Does this mean real value of BP without debt would be Market cap plus debt =120b
in next couple of years BP expects to buyback 10% of shares and pay off 10% of dept
If nothing changes market cap would be 81b dollars and dept 27 b dollars total 107b
I assume that market would change sp to make company market cap represent new company(which if nothing changed would be more profitable with less div to pay and less interest to pay).
Am I totally wrong or is this all kind of right?

For those who say buybacks never work BP % of Rosneft went from 19.75% to 22.03% due to Rosneft buying back shares.
In my opinion that’s a big positive effect.

I believe they only ever have authority from the shareholders to issue a certain % of new shares so as share base falls they are actually allowed to issue less and less new shares ,unless in a takeover situation where again they normally have to seek permission from shareholders.
Most buybacks result in a temporary rise in share price.
This year for some reason the market is not rewarding many companies with a rising sp due to buybacks.
This may in the long run benefit BP as they will buyback a larger volume of shares

I remember my best BP day ever ,when the Amoco deal was announced and the share price went up over £1 to £9 something.
I believed in the management then, and think I do now.
It all makes sense when you hear them talk,and they are convinced they are right,and that it’s going better than the expected.
One day that will be reflected in sp

It’s funny but it seems to be the people who topped up at lower prices who want it to go lower so they can get even more.
It should be impossible to stay at these levels as Bp keeps hoovering up shares,as some time the sp must start to move up.
Keep repeating often enough and eventually can say told you so(I hope)

One way or another BP appears to be increasing its crude output, if they still want to decrease overal crude production by 40% the disposal program will need to be bigger to play catch up with all these additions.Think that’s the 4th addition in about a month.This one is important as it increase % owned in giant Johan Sverdrup from 11.57 to 31.57%, and Aker BP talk about increasing their dividend again

I think by the time we get to results day which surprisingly is about 7 weeks away.
A lot of unknowns will be known.
1)what has been effect of new covid variant on oil price
2)is this variant milder or are deaths high
3)have we had a lockdown
4) and most importantly what are BPs results
If all of these were to come out positive surely todays sell off would be just a blip which allowed buyback to buy 3% more shares for their money.
7 weeks any we will have some answers.
