The debate about £10 a share9 Feb 2022 10:45
First point I do not expect 10 a share in next 3 years.
However
If div just now is 4 p per quarter for £4 share we would expect £10 share to have div of 10 p per quarter or 40 p per year ( this sounds high ) a little look at div history says quarterly div Q4 2008 was 9.818 so that’s not impossible.
As sp increases div needs to increase to keep yield, there comes a point ( I have seen it in the past) when you are no longer sure if rising sp is driving rising div or rising div is driving rising sp.This happens when company continues to over perform.
My final point would be regarding Oil Spill payments.
Inflation appears to be eating into the value of the payments( the argument used to be made that you were paying with cheap money).
Also in 10 years BP suddenly will have 1 billion dollars a year extra to give to us shareholders.
So will sp get to £10 ,think it’s all about oil price and dividend and time scale.
I don’t think it’s impossible, and would say if oil prices stay high for more than 4 years it’s most definitely possible as we will be such a lean fit company.
All just my opinion, and oil price is main concern
