The latest Investing Matters Podcast with Jean Roche, Co-Manager of Schroder UK Mid Cap Investment Trust has just been released. Listen here.
No doubt this post will disappear within seconds.
836578 shares. whole transaction(s)
In entirety this trade has been booted around for 3 days now.
Why?
Blantyreboy
Shares were accumulated throughout the day, bought between 17.1 - 17.3.
The 836k was a sell @ 17.5.
Worth noting the chip-off was XOFF/Reported ECHO.
Have seen several of these over the last few weeks.
Can't offer my opinion because when I do, my post disappear. Strange I know!
regardless of comments (spew) form the uninitiated, this is a takeover/buyout in motion.
Cannot believe you guys can't see it!
But rest assured, we will all be winners!
I had dwindled it down to 4.
Update - it's now 3 (with a couple of wild cards)
Newcrest odds on favourite.
Newmont and Barrick are a good each way bet.
The wild cards - Polyus and Polymetal. Both unofficially backed by Putin. Don't be surprised. He wants - he gets. And of course we all know why!
DGR, I can't disagree with that point of view.
Speedy,
No coincidence in mentioning property auctions I guess?
I get the impression you know who I am.
I hope I can rely upon discretion amongst gentlemen.

Hi Speedy,
"With no income and corrupt bankers it may be a possibility that we are maneuvered into a position where we are wide open to a low ball offer that we will not be able to refuse. This is a highly unlikely outcome, but a possibility."
I agree it is always possible that a low ball offer could be made but I think that would start a bidding war. If a competing offer were to be accepted, it would be anything but low ball. All the big players know what Havieron alone is worth. IMO

According to LSE
Local shop - loaf of bread priced at 15.80p
Customer says I'll give you 15.50p
Shopkeeper cannot go below 15.60p because he will make a loss (apparently)
Work that one out.
Rise in SP, surely?
Droverman,
I do apologise, gotta jump over to the big board, but with respect, didn't get what you meant?
Yep, potentially an endless conversation.
Just take a look at the last couple of days (longer if you can be bothered).
I or, indeed, you can switch (key word being "switch") We could all buy/sell 5m in an hour.
markjp
again, quick witted.
The days of you having to watch the kettle are about to come to an end.
There's a new product available. Quooker, to mention one of several.
GGP is soon to be known as the Quooker!
sam2rob
Like it.
Although if I was expecting to be served with GGP and told only XYZ was on offer I'd be a bit miffed.
Very quick witted of you all the same, I did chuckle.
You're sat at home awaiting the expected arrival of a couple of friends. You put the kettle on shortly after they arrive, you don't fill it up because you can gauge the number of cups of tea you're going to make (teapots are old hat, surely?) and you don't want to waste electricity (or to be honest you don't want to pay for wasted use of electricity).
Low and behold, just before your expected guests arrive, you receive notification that another couple of friends are on their way round. No problem, just add a bit more water to the kettle.
Would you believe it, another couple of friends have called to say they are in the area and are going to pop in.
For those who may be new to investing, those who have been "having" a go for some time, and those who have done well with whatever approach they have taken. The behaviour of the SP yesterday was "strange" today it was "stranger" still.
In the market, it's all about registration of ownership, try to follow it and you will be bamboozled!. Some time ago Hydro alluded to the working of laddering (and he was quite right to do so).
For me it's a definite sign that we are about to see an explosion in the number of friends coming to visit!
Exactly when, I have no idea, but it will be soon!
Brokers have filled their kettles to the brim, some have 2 kettles, some have more; all conjecture of course!
Lenz.
Yes, you are right. A lot can happen in 24 months.
Uni
The deal only relates to Havieron.
Lenz,
as far as I am aware, this is a contractual option to buy at fair market value.
My understanding is that if Newcrest ask "independent" parties to come up with a valuation at whatever date and that valuation is not attractive to Newcrest then they can say thank you but it's not currently something we would like to take up.
There is something to bear in mind though - for certain, no one on this board has seen the actual contract (in relation to the purchase of the additional 5% at the end of the farm-in period) In my opinion, it will not be a one off opportunity.
Actual contract may make provision for any number of years following the qualifying date?
Who knows?
Gonna be interesting this one.
Newcrest, for obvious reasons. Bigger offer due to less Capex.
Happy Days.
4 biggies in the game
Newcrest looking favourable
Newmont / Barrick war?
