Kabaa - yes, they make their money on spreads. They don't speculate - they leave that to the punters (who, by the way, no-one forces to trade)

No Diggedy, it's not. A 50 margin does indeed mean 2% . 2% of £1 = 2p. So for a £1,000 bet, you're required to put up a deposit of £20, and then you'll also be required to post variation margin if the underlying moves against you. inexperienced investors will be required to post £40. Leverage by definition means more exposure than capital outlaid. Your example below actually suggests the opposite ie more money posted than exposure gained. That's not leverage.

..is completely right. At the end of the day, the company is simply facilitating the trading of financial instruments between willing participants, and takes the spread between the two. What the FCA wants is for potential investors to be better informed, which is fine. You can bet that this won't stop people trading! Diggedy, you have misunderstood the ruling. The limit is not on margin, it's on leverage. 25x means £25 position for £1 down, and 50X £50 position of £1 down. You have it the wrong way around. I think we can all agree that the FCA recommendation is reasonable, and still leaves plenty of flexibility for potential CFD investors. Conclusion - stock may fall further, but I'm confident that in 12 months, you'll have made 50% return from this price. I've initiated a position funded from top slicing my Barclays holding which I bought in March and made 50% on. Nice trade in my mind!

All the indicators you say 50? is it technicals that you speak of? more of a fundamental man myself, but whatever works!! I do think this acquisition represent a great opportunity, but also an increase in risk. Sur MF has the track record here, but every acquisition is different, and this one is huge, so has to be some implementation risk. If we see £25 in the next few months, I'll probably lighten my holding.

Initially I thought the growth rates looked a bit pedestrian, then I realized, they're all at constant currency!! Q2 eps is actually up 32% in £ terms! If they replicate Q2 eps over the second half of the year, then you get 116p for the year, rating of 13.3x this year. I think 15x is easily justifiable giving me a new price target for end March 2017 of £17.50. I'm holding on!

Yes, it's almost like the stock price is some sort of clearing mechanism which equates buyers and sellers, with half thinking it's overvalued, and the other half, the opposite........... Yes the stocks been strong - however, the market dynamics have also been good, whilst AHT is one of the best managed in the sector. In addition, it's a huge dollar play, and the US is about to go on a huge construction/infrastructure binge thanks to mad-dog Trump. With a c£1.05eps this year, the stock is still only on 15x. Doesn't feel like a sell to me......

Ha! Well, To be fair to me (which I always try to be), my issue 12 months ago wasn't that the stock had lost its long term attractiveness, but rather that the stock had got ahead of itself based on the fundamentals at that time. As soon as the stock went back below £20, I bought back everything I'd sold. Now a year on, with continued positive results, and the drug launches now imminent, I'm happy to be Mr bullish!!

Yep, we finally seem to be on the next up-leg for the stock price as we near launch for these exciting new drugs. I expect this leg to get us well into the £30 to £40 range. GLA!!

I still like the Company, but am thinking that in general, quality growth stocks are likely to be falling out of favour as bond yields rise, and that previous fallen angels (banks, food retailing, Oil, and miners) might be the way to go. Hey listen, if you don't line them, and they wear out, you keep losing important stuff like your keys and coins. Better safe than sorry....;-)

Definitely worth a read LO. You're right, free float is very small. Volume today of 180k is actually 3x average volume for the stock. Stock price is now back to my average in price for my entire holding - I did buy more at 50 p, (in fact got some in the high 40's). TBH though, I'd probably sell a few if we got near to 100p again without new positive news - I like the long term story but near term visibility on this stock is still very poor IMO.

...but unsure exactly what it means for Benchmark? Is the inference that their vaccination approach approach is better than the approaches described in the article?
