In all this talk about the merger, don't forget news today that retail sales were the highest they've been for two years especially on big ticket household items; probably on the back of a feelgood factor stemming from rising house prices. No specific mention of electrical goods I could see but I guess where three-piece suites go, fridges are sure to follow. Seems like there is a real prospect of rising sales and profits.; and the CPW merger will help them stay ahead of the curve. GL for Thursday.

Two million shares bought after 16.30 today, I'm a newcomer here but hopefully that's good news for tomorrow. Times analysis suggests the merger may be a better deal for DXNS than CFW.

A rise to 55 would be a 12% gain on my recent purchase, I'd be very happy with that .

Bloomberg say nickel prices up to a 14 month high on supply concerns emanating from Ukraine crisis and Indonesian export ban. Looks good for tomorrow. I bought my very small parcel at 6.8 when I cashed in my Royal Mail allocation and thought I'd lost my money under a Finnish ****heap. Now, how long do I wait before cashing in this time???

I guess it shows the tiredness of the Talv investors that even a 9% rise in the SP can't raise a comment on this BB. I guess it's the sharp rise in the world nickel price that has produced the interest in the stock and hopefully will help to persuade the Finish government and big investors to support refinancing. Still a 50/50 but GL all.

Would you kindly enlighten us with your rationale for this prediction. Personally I think that since the recent production news has been reasonably good so Nyrstar and the Finish government will take a chance on backing up the company, but whether this will entail some nasty surprises regarding ownership, I'm not sure. I put 1K on this stock at 6.71 after a bottle of wine and really can't face the ignominy of backing out now so I'll see it through to the end.

I sold at 176 - a small loss, as I couldn't see any sign of my anticipated Santa bounce. Even this week it hasn't caught the general market enthusiasm. A good company I'm sure but I thought there were better prospects.

I quite see your point. Congratulations on spotting a good prospect so early on. Any tips for another like BMY or has this year's price surge removed most of the bargains? My current holds apart from BMY are IGAS, LLOY and IPO.

Weir look like a good long term bet with an improving world economy but is it worth holding on to stock bought at 2110 or sell at a meagre profit now and get back in later?

Still looks good to me - I bought at the top of the curve 179p but am still hoping that good publicity over Xmas, reasonable P/E and high inventories will keep the price momentum. All the right ingredients hopefully.

Thinking of buying a Bake-off book this Xmas. Then that's probably published by Bloomsbury. So BMY has all the right ingredients for a Santa bounce.

Not much activity on this board. I've just taken a small punt on this portfolio company on the basis of their large holding in a Durham based graphene production company which is coming to AIM in November - it's worth researching graphene - a new wonder material; the demand for which is forecast to rocket in the next few years.

The BB on Weir seems to have died a death which seems a shame. There is going to be massive shale gas development in China, Mexico, Russia, Australia etc and Weir are a well known and long established company well placed o take advantage. They also have a mining equipment division and with the international upturn in economic fortunes then raw materials will move more centre stage. Think long term, you're not going to make quick massive profits here but investing for the medium term it looks like a good play
