.. to take profits and buy back in when the spread narrows with the gain tends to work for me , but I am a bit heartless :)
....
...can you imagine a flight for fun seekers only... those were the days . Where you had a good time , joined the 5 mile high club if you wanted , had a smoke , drowned in your drink and had a laugh with the hostess or himess or whatever they call them politically now. You get jack now and a grilling at the other end , I have even heard they will ground the flight if you do not fit in with the herd.
...its a bit like tesco being financial players in years to come , airlines simply become oil players.
... thats the fuel bill , ish , or buy out the likes of BPat c.£150 Billion today. Its a bit like a mortgage. Get a few like minded aero heads together to control high end costs. I am not saying that BP be the target as Aero fuel may not be the name of the game with BP , but BP makes c.£25billion or so pa so that should leave a few planes in the air somewhere along the belt and give investors in airlines a bit of hope!! Lets face it , if you could borrow £150 Billion at 10% interest only that would cost £15 Billion , maybe airlines should buy Shell to. Set up a company and borrow the monies from Japan or the likes this would be somewhat less , throw them a slice of the action and pull in a few global airlines to put some cash on the table and its like , hello!!
...don't get me wrong , but if BA spend a current c.£3 billion in fuel pa , I am sure they would have thought about fuel years ahead. When aviation fuel was cheap , where was the bulk buy. It is basic stuff 'Oh ,yeh , we need fuel to make the planes go. Its cheap so why not buy a shed load.Yeh, remember the last couple of gulf wars and the price of the black stuff went up , maybe we should have got into a contract with some geezer that could pump us some cheap avgas.' Its what , as if they cannot negotiate... come on at £3 billion cash burn they should be buying Oil reserves direct and implimenting refinery lines and selling the stuff on. I am gearing every care home I have on solar and heat pumps to work with the best condensors. I have remained with my supplier of gas and elec for years as they know its monies. The bottom line is that airlines should club together and buy out and control high end costs , merging is second class stuff.
BA , like BT , and others , have hands tied , agenda in script and management protocol in pace. I hold both stocks but currently long BT and short BA. T5 at Heathrow in Spanish hands as an operation in receiving BA , will be typical in any so called merger with Iberia and it will , imo , be many years , if approved at all , B4 shareholders receive any benifit what so ever. Speculation and bull runs on BA's so called good news and current aviation fuel weakness? is , what I enjoy , in order that I be able to cap and cash.
BA , despite reasonable strength of position both on their books and within their slots , are not making enough monies to justify their own existance let alone manage to create synergy savings with Iberia Airlines. I long BA from 200 or sub , if I can get it , after shorting from 250 or higher , if I can get it. BA is basically a hedge against falling oil prices for many , bottom line is what is clearly admitted by BA . Whilst stability within the oil markets is remains so, the airline business model is broken and a bit of glue will not make it or other airlines truely fly again. They have just paid their first dividend in years and unlikely do so again. IMO , buying BA stock at such value is like flying in the wind.
unfortunately not , a gsl is a contract that cannot be ammended , get back later the indices are going wild :)
no worries , just track me down and give me the heads up if there is monies on the plate.. thanks for saying thanks , gl
...from the lows yesterday or today , was the time to buy in , imo

It has been reported that they are finalise selling various stakes in the likes of F&C and Pantheon , etc , and ABN Amro is calling a potential tie up with Standard Life a logical move http://thescotsman.scotsman.com/business/Call-for-Standard-Life-to.4200103.jp
