"The board of British Airways has been forced to assess the impact of a possible £900 million reduction in profits this year, caused by the rising price of oil. Martin Broughton, BA’s chairman, admitted that the board had debated what would happen if the airline were in a “break-even position” by the end of this financial year, having just revealed record operating profits of £875 million last year."
FP are basically undergoing a reshape. They have alot of interest in their prized assets , have recently offloaded their own pensions fund and , imo , are shareholder focused , unlike many companies on todays market. Some brokers are somewhat concerned that FP has not done enough as quickly as they could have done. My personal view is what they have done thus far is well thought through and I have absolute confidence that there is will be a 50% return at todays SP within the next 6 months. If FP's slips further it will be marginal and a likely continuing offload by those that FP put the weedkiller upon , gl.

..don't follow the croud is definately not me. I am totally up for shorting oil but , like you , I am waiting for the signals to set and maintain a downward trend. I can't call oil , either way , aside from intraday at best , so remain on the sidelines. Your observations regarding extraction methods are well noted. There are some real winners within our markets and some real loosers. I feel that a bear rally has occured over the last week or so and that there are plenty of opportunities to short those stocks most put into play. With regard to irvine Energy, I will have some information later today that , for me , will help me decide whether or not to take this stock into my trading portfolio. I will post my findings on the IVE board but also AAA for you and trusted others to sharpen pencils and feed back upon.
...oil is on a run north , logic is not the game , there is no way that oil will hit 100 as oposed to 150 , jimo.

hiya , looks like the banks are having a party...can only put it down to both the fed's descision to increase its lending to both the us and european markets , the boe also improving lending volume and the interest in potential insurance acquisitions. Aside from that , looks like barclays will write off a few billion and the housing market clearly worsens with the likes of Abbey pulling market share. Lots of fun to be had , bye for now , gl.
.. it looks like the insurance arms of RBS have received good interest and with Allianz looking around and Flowers being told to go away by Friends as price was too low the sector is receiving some good support at the moment. I bought in to the sector Standard/Friends/Aviva on extreme lows months ago , worth keeping an eye on http://uk.reuters.com/article/businessNews/idUKL028075220080502?feedType=RSS&feedName=businessNews
..sounds like gold is being sold off from its highs as metal values drop in general and the dollar pulls back off its lows.
..hanging out with the rug rats , holidays in france , so not tuned in on the black stuff but thanks for your thoughts , have a good one.
..company owing shareholders? ... shareholders own companies...thats the way it works in my book. As soon as a slight of hand places company issues above shareholders , then there is a problem.
I only do coke on a tuesday..guess I'll be kicked soon..
... who is behind the likes of such blatent intro hipe over the likes of SER...LSE?
... either rebel1 is on the lse payroll and wants me out , like DonAce was thrown overboard , or he/she is my next shrink... either way , brothels in Aus is stand up business and so is farm land in Zimbabwe. Both have risks , but penny shares are to be ripped, good on ya and bless those that should dyor , etc.
...as an lse moderator , could you have not found a better way to have interacted?
...I find it scary that you pointed that one out to me . You are quite right to do so , hey , moderate this little 'AAA' board for me , thats probably why I chose it , 'AA' and all that...gl all.
