Insurance discounts for cars that have DMS fitted as standard (as with AEB) will come in time but it is a few years away.

I doubt it will be more than 5%-10% though. Still, nothing to stop new entrants cherry picking these vehicles and offering more. Surely fleets might also get discounts with Guardian as their accident levels should be lower.

Imagine the reputational risk any OEM runs by installing a cheap, poorer quality DMS in its cars. I can't see Smarteye winning any premium bids v. Seeing Machines. Aptiv if they have any sense (and they do) will be seeking to partner with SEE. Indeed, premium OEM wins are likely to be contingent upon SEE providing the DMS.

The problem for SEE is can they service the coming demand? This is where a bidder can help ;) SEE, us and themselves.

The bidding war for Earthport that has seen it get a bid at approximately a 350% premium to it share price shows what is possible even for a share not even best in class. Roll on the summer bidding war for SEE.

Terry, reading the Cenkos note it appears a racing certainty that SEE win VW, probably starting off with Audi A8 I reckon. Smarteye system clearly wasn't good enough in the Audi A8. Despite the hassle of changing supplier SEE is in an RFQ for the "whole group".

Nice to see that Max Ward, fund manager of Independent Investment Trust, is keeping faith with Seeing Machines, though he is realistic about reasons for the fall in share price. In his annual report issued yesterday he states: "In the case of Seeing Machines the problem was that of translating a great technology into a commercially profitable product".

While he has sold out of some other tech stocks he is still holding SEE.

I like that bit Value Rebel. Only Mobileye was sold for US$15.3bn, which was "42x the US$358m FY 2016 revenue" according to Lorne Daniel's note dated 16th March 2017, page 7.

That's exactly it Terry. SEE would be cheap at £1 given its the leading DMS supplier to one of the hottest sectors in the global auto industry. Vastly undervalued. Xilinx, Intel, Apple, Waymo, Tesla, Qualcomm, Nvidia etc could all snap this up. Not to mention, Veoneer, another Tier 1 or even GM.

I'd love to know exactly who SEE board sat down with at CES.

It's 2023 and GM (which sells 10m cars a year globally) has now joined many other manufacturers in putting camera-based DMS (via Super Cruise) into all its cars. A certain Seeing Machines gets US$300m a year, every year, from this one contract alone. Given the revenues from other OEMs I wonder what SEEs share price is? £20? £30....now discount that back to what its current share price should be? SEE is a mispriced stock.

I don't think it is SEE but that is fine. They can get in the queue for the No.1 leader in DMS technology -- and I'm pretty confident Toyota is in that queue. The important thing is camera-based DMS has arrived and every car manufacturer needs it. The top manufacturers and premium electric marques appear to be choosing SEE. SEE is the future. Now we need a broker to put out revised estimates for 2020 onwards and keep upgrading them as we win more and more OEM deals.

True it could. Still, given they've already selected Fovio for the 2020 S Class and camera-based DMS is the future, they'd be silly to install a sub-standard system in a 2020 model. Consumers would be pretty pissed with them. Fingers crossed anyway.

It will have Driver Attention Monitor as standard, apparently. I'd hitherto expected SEE's Fovio to debut in S class but maybe Mercedes now rolling it out across more cars.

They did issue a couple of reiterations last year after the big note. However, their website has removed all notification of those reiterations. Still, their figures for auto are completely out of date. I'd like some broker to provide estimates for auto sales in 2020 and 2021. They are going to be massive, yet most market participants are unaware of this fact.

If CG was in negotiations for a takeover for SEE would it prohibit them from publishing a note? The silence from them is deafening only I can't make out the words....

Nice post Oatcake. That's why I'm confident one of the big boys (Ideally a chip manufacturer) will come for SEE in the next 6 months. They want proven technology. When its clear that SEE are the next big thing they will strike. Did anyone see that Earthport went for 250% premium? I reckon Xilinx, Intel, Nvidia et al will pay up big time.

I reckon any 3 from Seeing2020's list would do it. Personally, I think it will be FCA, VW + Volvo in Q1. I'm also hoping for any one from Honda/Toyota/Subaru by Q2. Time is running short for these OEMs to get their DMS act together so I'm expecting a rush of OEM wins by end of June. If I'm right the share price will take care of itself.

Baxter, you make some good points. Fleet has been a bit of a mess (for whatever reason) and we're not getting meaty news that warrants a real rise. It isn't helped by the lack of coverage from brokers but they don't want to look stupid.

Automotive contracts will move see up substantially and CES and 2019 Detroit Motor Show should give some pointers. Smarteye are having their lunch eaten by SEE, which is why they're desperately copying SEE strategy. That's my take on it. They are hoping to mop up the crumbs that SEE don't want.
