Then there is the service industry workers who have no unions, who will get no minimum wage increase, that are paid the lowest in society and have to suck up record-breaking inflation and just get on with it. All so the very rich can get just that little bit richer.

Can anyone tell me anything the government has done in the last six months (or 12 years) that benefits the people of this country?

In Spain they taxing energy and banking companies to give free train travel to everyone in the country for the rest of the year, which will boost local economies while reducing pollution.

Germany, France, Netherlands et al all reducing energy bills (Frances state-owned EDF is subsidized by the British public btw, another perk of the Tory policy if privatising every public service possible ) while our government argues who can offer the biggest tax cuts to the rich.

The amount of benefit fraud is such a vanishingly small amount it isn't even worth considering. Now consider tax evasion from the rich for a second. Tens of thousands of millionaire, or billionaire, persons actively avoiding paying their fair share into the treasury.

How many people do you think are avoiding paying fair tax in this country through clever accountants? It's in the order of billions of pounds lost, far outstripping benefits.

Chips I normally like your spiritual waffle, but we only have one earth, the best we can do is care for her. When climate change leads to thousands of species becoming extinct every year (as is happening) the risk of total biological collapse increases.

Is it the climate scientists warning you of catastrophe or is it the multi-billion pound corporations like Shell, BP, Exxon etc telling you it's all okay? (Even though they have all abandoned that policy as even THEY accept man-made climate change is real)

Do you really, honestly think that tens of thousands of scientists (who in all likelihood live very modest lives of work and study) are the people benefiting from this? Or is it the billionaire leaders of fossil fuel companies?

That's not even going over the fact that scientists are peer reviewed. They don't just go out and say something is true, they ask a question and try to find an answer, and they the whole process is open to anyone to read.

You know what I meant, no point getting lost in the weeds. The gist of the point is that the overwhelming majority of scientists agree on something. Science isn't politics, it isn't a matter of opinion. It follows a rigorous method to find the most likely answer to a question.

Anyone arguing that 97% (when was the last time 97% of people agreed on bloody anything?!) of professionals must be wrong in favour of the 3% might as well just say it's the Illuminati controlling everything. It's conspiratorial fantasy for the sake of not being able to confront the reality of a complicated world largely out of our control.

It's the action of a scared child unable to cope with the world around them. And what's more annoying is the indignant believe THEY are the ones that have it all figured out. The nutjobs with no reputable sources to back up anything they say.
