Yep. The only solution is far less government and a return to free market capitalism.
Far, far less public spending and only on those few core areas that our society actually benefits from and needs.
Get rid of the non-jobs and abstract pen pushers, and in consequence the important and useful public servants (like front line teachers, nurses, doctors, border security, emergency services etc) will have more time to do the jobs that they actually signed up for. Meaning they will be happier and more productive in their roles as well.
So, an 80% headcount cut should do the trick :) Similar story elsewhere in the West, so not a UK-bashing comment by me.
In the absence of that, the private sector needs to make sure they are as lean and efficient as possible. The jury is out here on that front of late. The next update will be illuminating. GLA.
