Klunk/DerSack, Thanks, these links are interesting. It looks like the maximum charge rate per column is 5.5kW, which is suitable for a full overnight charge or a short day-time top-up. While that brings my figures down by a tenth, I'm still amazed that the existing street light circuit has so much overcapacity.

DerSack, I wish someone could explain just how the lamp post thing is going to work out in practice in UK. You are taking an electric circuit designed for between 0.02 and 0.2kVA per column and need to uprate it to deliver between 50 and 100kVA per column. That's 2MW per street for the charging system alone, so we will see a new distribution sub-station on every street?

Skins, I think you need to look at the Dow Jones figure a bit closer... it finished 0.83% higher, not your stated 83%!

Klunk, it may be that it was ballasted for sea-trials? No point in speed testing the engines under a light load?

The vessel that has moored behind it in the dock is the Zwerver1, it may be completely coincidental to the St Helena being there, but forms a cork in the bottle of the dock. Zwerver1 seems to be a flat-bottomed, multi-purpose support vessel, so it could be carrying containers of equipment from somewhere else to dump on the dockside adjacent to St Helena. If someone had premium grade ship tracking, they might get a longer vessel track to see where it came from, but the free 24 hour track only shows it coming up the Irish Sea.

It doesn't actually say it is loading, it says that ExtremeE is receiving! It says "Extreme E is currently receiving cargo from all the teams and partners to be loaded onto the championship’s floating centrepiece, the St. Helena..."

Turnkey, you may be correct on your estimate of the company's value, but I don't think you can simply add the management charge back in to the operating profit like that - a lot of this probably relates to real costs that are simply most economically handled through the parent company. It may even be that as a stand-alone entity these costs would be higher.

Joe, you do know that ITM doesn't "source such energy from water"? The electrolyser converts electrical energy to chemical energy. If ITM had found a way to create energy from scratch, the SP would know no bounds!

Mucker, Cammell Laird have what was the former Bidstone dry-dock, where the St Helena is sitting. It no longer functions as a dry dock, although the gates can be seen on satellite images. It could be that Cammell Laird are fine-tuning the mechanics, but equally they could be project managing the overall fit-out including providing the warehousing for all the kit required for Extreme E, so being in that dock is not necessarily inconsistent with moving on to the next phase.

Yes, she seems to be back at Cammell Lairds and moored in their dry-dock. Hopefully that is just the most convenient place to be, rather than a sign that she is needing anything more serious done.

Phat, I hope you are correct, but I think it is a tad optimistic to expect the same impact from a deal with a £0.24bn company as there was from a deal with a £48bn company.

Yes, when a partnership is announced between two companies of vastly differing market cap, I think I would expect more of a reaction in SP for the smaller of the two - which in this case is Ricardo. I see the two companies as being very good synergistic fits for each other, so welcome the tie-up, but I think we need to be realistic about the potential for this to have any great impact on the AFC SP in the short-term.

AGM have issued an RNS to say that the "EU regulator ECHA has approved the use of graphene powder at larger volumes" ... "for a volume threshold of 1 to 10 tonnes of powder usage per annum of graphene products supplied by individual members of the Graphene REACH registration consortium..." VRS announced in 2019 that they had been admitted to the REACH consortium, so hopefully this news applies to VRS as well.

Just out of interest, I placed a sell order for 600 shares on HL at about 14.23 and was offered £4,184 which i didn't take. That works out at £6.97 per share, which is well above any quoted deals at that time. Does that imply there was someone compiling a stake, which will be reported later at an aggregate price? Or is there some other logical explanation?

Haggis, you are correct that the content of articles tends to be centred on the US market, but I rather suspect that few readers get past the headlines. For many pi's the general "feel" comes from headlines that they skim past or that are not directly related (such as the headline in the Telegraph today about bond markets). Add in the likes of the comment in the recent Sunday Times that now was a good time to take profits in ITM (and I'm sure I read suggestions over the last couple of days about hydrogen being in a bubble). So I think there is sufficient murmurings out there to spook quite a number of casual private investors who are not putting much effort into researching their stocks. Personally, I'm quite relaxed about my AFC holding at present, although in a few months I will need to sell something in my SIPP to bank as future drawdown cash and I am not ruling out some AFC shares being part of that mix.
